The question isn't about a visa Derek3759. It's about a 6 month Residence Permit as Karennina is intending to stay more that the 90 days in 180 that a visa covers.

Visit or message Yakup Yilmaz who is Lynda's husband, she has the Hippy Chick shop in Fethiye. He has his business in the same shop.. Yakup helps a lot of people get their residency and he is a very genuine guy.   Although not for residency permits, we have used him a number of times for translation and nothing has been too much trouble for him.
He also donated producing a residence permit to the 3C's Auction recently.   ;) is

The cost for 6 months is 50% of the cost for one year, plus the card cost and you now have to have a notarized translation copy of your passport . This will cost you 75 for the noter plus translation cost.

To give you an idea I payed a total of 366 TL for the fixer to do everything including all payments.

If you are younger than 65 then you will need health insurance, Turkish, even if you are just applying for a 6 month permit then you will need to buy a year cover, cancel it when your permit expires and reclaim the premium.

Hello Karennina,

1-)    58.50 Lira Card fee
2-)    55 $ = just about 165 Lira 6 months residence tax
3-)    If this is a renewal translation and notarization of passport 105 Lira
4-)    15 lira for 4 photographs
5-)    + health insurance if younger then 65 years old.

I thought that 1 year was the longest Residency Permit you could get now, unless you had 8 years continuous residency when you could apply for a lifetime residency.

Oh crap..really..didn't budget for that. So how much is a Year? Is it cheaper to renew every 90 days Then?
Title: Re: How much for six months residency please
Post by: kayakebab on August 15, 2016, 16:24:49 PM
Its around 600tl for the year but more if you pay a translator to help you.
More & more bits added all the time..apparently now need landlords tapu and notarised rental agreement.
So thats about another 200.
Insurance isnt cheap.
Be sure about all the costs.
We've had 40 friends leave in last 2 years and 2 more going soon.
People getting fed up with it now, getting harder every year...

Its around 600tl for the year but more if you pay a translator to help you.

Funnily enough, it's still cheaper than a few years ago (taking exchange rates into account).  In the days when it was two odd lira to the pound a yearly RP was about £200 or thereabouts, and the blue book about another £50.  I think I paid about 1,100tl for my first two year RP in Istanbul.

Then the prices went up, and up, and up.  Here's a blast from the past   :)

I've just had this email from the Honorary British Consulate in Fethiye.

Thank you for your e-mail of 06 January. We are unable to find a Turkish government website where the new prices are available either.

However we inquired with the passport office in Fethiye about the new prices of residence permit which shown below.

1 year GBP   370,00
2 year GBP   730,00
3 year GBP 1090,00
4 year GBP 1450,00
5 year GBP 1810,00
Residency permit book is TL 138,00

For more information about the new prices and increase please visit the passport office in Fethiye.

Kind regards,

Fax: + 90 252 614 83 94
e-mail : bhcfethiye@superonline.com
Web  :  The British Embassy in Turkey UK in Turkey

So, using an exchange rate of 2.4 TL / £

1 year = 888 TL
2 year = 1,752 TL
3 year = 2,616 TL
4 year = 3,480 TL
5 year = 4,344 TL

To calculate the costs of a permit for any periods not covered above it's £40 for the first month and £30 for each subsequent month, However, for UK citizens payment must be made in Turkish Lira at the published exchange rate on the day of application.

So, at 2.30 TL / £ it'll cost 851 TL for a 1 year permit, but at 2.70 TL / £, it'll be 999 TL.

Bear in mind that health insurance, whilst not mandatory in those days, was on top of the above.

I dont mind the cost. Still worth every tl to me.
Its the additional notary costs.
Last year the passport, then the rental agreement and now having to get landlord tapu..
All extra money and hassle.

Thanks all the recidency cost itself is not too bad I suppose but the health insurance on top is...
I dont think we are going to bother, when Derek retires next year we will have our 90 days and then get cheap package deals to anywhere that looks good and is cheap...the way I see it is its Turkeys loss as we would be there spending money in the country...
Gosh 40 friends you must be popular Linda! ( joking I am lol) seriously that is loads that have left...
Bernie did you mean £1500 gbp or tl you are paying all in?

Jeez, you both had heart transplants?

Just shy of 3,000tl a skull sounds a lot (bearing in mind some costs are shared) - without going into personal stuff, how much is your health insurance, and who is it with?

JF

Edit: actually, forget I asked - health insurance costs are personal.

I know John..
Karen, friends as in people we saw once every week or 2 at various activities rather than dinner guests  ;)
It is an awful lot. Some back to UK, a few to Bulgaria, 2 to Spain, 2 to Gozo, 2 to Tenerife, and 3 more back to UK in a few weeks time.
The biggest reasons are the 120 day restriction and the health insurance cost.
Bernie not sure how old you are but the health insurance jumps up when you turn 60.

The costs are with solicitors fees. They sort it all. 2 people. Probably do pay more, but for us the trouble free services are worth it. I think when it comes down to it I, ve probably had that much in free legal advice from them while I, ve been in uk.

Istanbul is no different.  A lot of folks who have been there for years and I kinda looked upon as being in with the bricks have bailed over the past year or so.  Its likely that over the next few months more are off to pastures new as well - for those that have based themselves in Istanbul (a lot of folk do this) but work across the middle east and in the Baltic countries the 120 day rule is a killer.

There is a certain irony with a couple I know who work in Africa but based themselves in Istanbul - they lived in Cihanger, fairly close to Taksim and moved as they didn't like working and living in war zones.  They moved to Nice in January...

The costs are with solicitors fees. They sort it all. 2 people.

This might sound like a silly question, but why do you need a solicitor?

Looks like I will have to go the six-month route in February when my blue book expires to bring my residency in line with my health insurance...which doesn't run out until sometime in August.

The only other option was to drop health cover now until renewal, which obviously I didn't want to do. (Incidentally, our insurance renewal this month - for three of us - is just over half what we've paid for the previous two years. No idea how or why...same provider/benefits etc. That was a nice surprise!)

Of course, I'm saying this now. It could all have changed by the time February rolls around.....

So if we can all suddenly apply for two-year residencies, I wonder what are they going to do about the health insurance requirement.
Maybe there'll suddenly be a new, two-year policy that meets minimum requirements for a ridiculous price......

Yes there is two way,
1-) They can allow 2 year health insurance contracts. (Todays regulations Health insurance contracts can't be done shorter and longer than one year.)
2-) They may make you sign a paper that you have to post a new health insurence contract to Residence office for the second year. (For example on Long term residence permits they send applicant their residence card and asking for criminal records paper to be send them in six month. Also they warn applicants that their residence permit will be canceled if they dont do that in six months. )
Title: Re: How much for six months residency please

Health insurance contracts can only be issued for one year. This is because of the statistical tables they use to determine health insurance prices, and these tables only project out for one year. Just because the DGMM is offering a two-year STRP, it doesn't mean they can force the insurance companies to have to project out for two years. That is not going to happen. You will simply be expected to renew your health insurance policy when it comes due. Otherwise, if you let it lapse, your residence permit may be canceled.

Can anyone clarify for me please re the 90 out of 180 days rule as im not totally sure I am working my dates out right!
For instance I had 90 days this year spread out over three different trips each trip counting back from day of departure, my question is do i definetely need to stay out of Turkey for 90 days until I can return, as if i was to start counting back now to a 180 day period prob my April and May days would not count...
Thanks for any help...

The period of stay in Turkey provided by the visa or visa exemption cannot exceed ninety days within a period of one hundred and eighty days. In case that foreigners, who have stayed in Turkey ninety days within a period of one hundred and eighty days, come to Turkey again; unless there is another matter preventing them from entering into Turkey at the border gates, they are required to enter into Turkey by filling the ‘Residence Permit Conditional Entry Information Form’ and apply for residence permit to the Governorate of the city they reside within ten (10) days as of the date of entry.

System is simple, when you come to Turkey, police computer system automatickly counts the days you stayed in Turkey in last 180 days and if less than 90 days system lets you enter the country.
If it is 89 days you can enter to leave the country same day. System counts the the day you entered as one day and the day you leaved as one day. If you enter at 23.59 you lost one day for just one minute.
For example, you are at the border to enter, Today 1st of December system will start counting the days you stayed from 4th of June. (some months 31 days)
Another example, If you want to come to Turkey every month for 14 days you will not have any probs becouse you will not complete 90 days in 180 days. You will just need to renew your e-visa when expires.

Hello Kerennina,
If you have health insurance you don't need Travel Insurance (in Turkey).  Health insurance gives you limited coverage only in Turkey for health problems. Travel insurance coverage area is whole world and gives adventages for lost luggage and tikets turning back to home etc.
