Hi just wondering if we have to register our grandson (age 11) when we come out to Turkey in August
-
Is your property already registered in the police reporting system for short term rentals ?

were registered with the police but we do not rent out the property
-
This isnt fact, but my understanding is that you dont need to register anyone if the owner is there. And if the owner is not there, you need to register everyone.

If your property is already registered to police system, you must report anyone staying in your property; even yourselves.
-
we didn't go to the police last year and my husband has just been there last week and we had no trouble conflicting posts on forum do we or don't we thanks
-
Probably not.
You're welcome.
:)

Ok - we are not registered with the police as we part own our property. Four of us own 25% each. Nobody else stays unless we are here.
We are here at the moment and have been told we need to complete this form so that the authorities know where we are staying. We are to complete it and hand it back to our sitesi management.
I guess it’s the equivalent of checking in at a hotel but it’s the first time we have ever been asked in 15 years.

Stoop, as far as I know, you are in Koca Calis that is under gendarme control. Gendarme's rules may be a bit different than police rules. Central Calis is police region.
-
So basically - doing a quick translate - it looks like they want us to register to say we are staying in our own home. Even though we are not registered with the police or gendarme.
-
Why don't you go to the Jandarma station and ask them to clarify the situation ?

Because the chances are we won’t be understood.
I’ll just complete it and let them have it back. No big deal. I just wondered if anyone had completed the same form recently.

this isn t going to make anything any clearer, i realise that, but to confirm IanK ,'s comment, i enquired with our management company when my sister was thinking of coming over while i would be there, they said as long as the tapu owner was in residence there was no need for any guests to register, family or not !

Pretty much my point. I own the house, we do not rent it out. So why should I have to complete a form at all?
-
We have to abide by the laws of any country we visit but honestly, this is a step too far. When you purchase your visa, they know all your details. Hotels have to fax details of guests arriving etc. Surely if you own a property and pay your bills and taxes, that should be it. Apparently keeping tabs on possible terrorists is part of the control but it is ridiculous for people who own their properties.

Personally, I would chuck it in the bin - although I do appreciate that it's easy for me to say that :)
As far as I'm aware, and I'm happy to be corrected if I'm wrong, under current legislation you are not obliged to inform anyone (as in Polis or Jandarma) that, as a property owner, you are resident in your own property. It could be argued that as it is still a state of emergency you should inform your muhtar, but that's a bit of a grey area - had this discussion with a lawyer friend a while back, and even he couldn't give a definitive answer!
Plus, it doesn't look like an official form to me.

Thanks everyone. Completed it. It seems to have a date of arrival but not departure. Pretty pointless really.
-
I’ve asked Inspector if he could clarify the current situation and he will once he is at his office with all the info, hopefully tomorrow.
-
Looking at it again, I suspect that form may be for the muhtar. Be interested to hear Inspectors take on it, he's usually bang on with this stuff.

ok thanks for your input as our property is in Gunlukbasi the Police station is just up the road we'll just walk up to check better safe than sorry will post the outcome after we've been on holiday thanks

We've had some lengthy conversations with Cenk and Olga regarding immediate family staying at our place on Lapis. The outcome was that anyone, friend or family, can stay without need for registration or notification as long as at least one of us as the owners is there too.
They've also clarified that immediate family can also stay without registering the property or notfying the authorities - though having the same surname helps if any questions are asked. So, my eldest son, who is coming over with his girlfriend next weekend will be perfectly alright . However, if my married sister wanted to stay then it would be OK for her to do so but, it would be advised for her to bring her marriage certificate to prove she was once a Francis.

Hi all,
Yesterday, I have been to Günlukbasi Police station and asked some of the questions discussed here. Here is the answers of Police officer who is responsible for ID reporting system
1- Do I need to report the children on police system.
Yes you do, even new born baby have to be entered the police system. There is no exception for kids and baby.
2- I own a house with my friend, our names and our wife's names written on tapu. Do I need to register to police system and do regular reports.
No, if one of the owner is in the house no need registration and reporting.
3- I will go the UK for a month to see my sister and at that time my daughter will come and stay in my house. Do I need registration to police.
No If she can prove the she is daughter no need registration. Officer told for close family members no need registration, like son, doughter, father mother and brother sister. But you must have documents like birth certificate to prove that.
Registration needed when you are in UK if a friend or relatives other than the ones mentioned above stays at your house.
For Gendarme there is no idea making fill in the forms because there is nothing written on regulations to do that. But State of Emergency anything can happen....

The Jandarma in Uzumlu require absolutely everyone to attend their station asap on arrival. All passports are photocopied as well as the Tapu. They ask all for their arrival date and how long they are staying. The whole procedure is very quick and the English speaking officer is very polite and efficient. Having said that it would appear that this Gandarma station have their own system of doing things!
