Try bunging some meat onions peppers tomatoes and the spices into a casserole and see what it cooks up like.  Maybe fry it up before you put the spices in.  I have used the spices from the market and it certainly gives a twist to a normal casserole.  Sometimes I do this in the slow cooker, just remember not to add extra fluid for the slow cooker.

Garlic a spice Heather? No, garlic is a species in the onion family Alliaceae. Its close relatives include the onion, the shallot, the leek and the chive, although they only get together for weddings and funerals.

The bell peppers are exactly the same as those available in the UK, Heather. I can't believe I'm in the recipe section  ;)

Rindaloo that was what I did when I got the spices from a shop in Fethiye a couple of years ago.  The following year the shop had closed and I got meat spices from the market but it wasn't the same.

I can relate to your cooking terms.

How about going to "Taste of Turkey" at Craigie Cross, maybe they know where to get spices from locally  :)
