Roka Restaurant

We had a lovely meal last night at Roka Restaurant in Calis. Although we have been there a few times for a drink & Carnival meetings, this was the first time we had eaten there. The food was superb-steak done to perfection, delicious stuffed vine leaves & the Roka Chocolate Scribble cake was to die for-yummmm!
Great company, lovely cosy ambience (aided by the power cut!) warm fire & good service by Tulin, Feme (sorry if they are spelt incorrectly) & the team.
if you have not tried Roka yet-give it a go  :)
Jo

If you walked from Aydin Pide to the 'main' Sunday market entrance, this is facing that entrance across the road.

Agree with Jo the whole night was superb, and the owners make a large donation to the Carnival Charity after staff wages are taken out.
Thanks for a great evening, of good food and wine and some very funny stories.:D

Brilliant night, great food, great atmosphere and really, really good company (and of course there were those stories  :-\)  - Thanks Tulin and Fehme and all the staff for making it a really good evening and we hope everyone else will give the restaurant a try.  It is a real restaurant - not just a bar that does food and is a  really good place for a special night out.

We ate at Roka for the 1st time tonight and were disappointed to say the least.  The venue is good and the staff are friendly and efficient, however the food is poor.  We were given bread and salad to start but the 'butter' was definitely margarine with a bit of garlic!  Calamari not cooked at a high enough temperature so was soggy and greasy and had no salad or lemon with it, tartare sauce good though.  I had a turkish shrimp casserole which was undercooked and not hot (I've had the same thing in other places and it was tasty, hot with lovely melted cheese) cold rice and veg to accompany.  My husbands steak was rare when he asked for medium/ well. Bearing in mind the cost was on the dear side we would not go here again. Why do people put up with poor quality food and still go back again and again, wise up folks it's your hard earned cash you're spending!
