Cenk Bey Hotel

Have just recently returned after staying at the above Hotel. We would not recommend this Hotel as the Staff were unfriendly, the food was not very varied neither were the cooks as to other food on offer, there was no entretaniment (peak season!)and there was a tennis tournament taking place with constant and continual disruptions at Breakfast and evening meals. The "wife" of the "boss" was more interested in socialising and interacting with Non english speaking residents. We initially thought it was us but, a couple of days before leaving, we were in conversation with two younger couples who felt the same. Interestingly, we went to the Hotel we stayed in April and were made most welcome. Unfortuantely they still ahd no rooms whereby we would have moved at the drop of a hat!!

Welcome to the forum. A intro then a complaint would have been better but welcome all the same.

Apologies! New to Forum but not to Calis Beach where we have been 6 times before in past three years! Have thoroughly enjoyed our stays, outwith the Cenk Bey, we have stayed in superb local Hotels hence our disappointment! We have made friends, enjoyed the local food, hospitality and entertainment. We have had relaxed times, taken in the sites and the beach with excellent restaurants and bars! 8)

That is a real shame as it's in a great location and in years gone by was quite popular. I wonder why some hotels have grumpy unhelpful staff in Calis and some have quite the opposite. Competition is rife now and the owners better work out that surly staff need the boot - and fast.

I agree with Keith as certainly a couple of years ago Stu and I went in to eat a few times and even for a drink when we were on our way elsewhere and all the staff were really friendly and nice, have to say for 10ytl for a 3 course the food was good as well.

Unfortunately a year or even two can change a place a lot as people staff move around quite a lot in Calis, shame for you but having been previously you know that there is lots of choice and many good places to stop in the future.....

I hope it was just a one off for DavyGee as that is where we are going!!  The comments on Trip Adviser were good which is why we chose it.
I am undaunted!!

Well if it is that bad, get out and about and give your hard earned cash to someone nice who makes an effort. Grumpy people should be fired!

If I'm not mistaken the comments posted by DavyGee were also on the Trip Adviser site that we looked at but there are many that contradict this view.  That's where we are going so I'll report back on what we find but I'm eternally optimistic - nothing is going to spoil my holiday.  I've found that if you treat others well you generally get the same back so let's see!

Well we got back at 4.00 am this morning having had a grand time.  There is nothing wrong with the Cenk Bay Hotel - the food is good and varied although the mains were a bit samey but the starters certainly made up for it.  The breakfast buffet was great and the staff were helpful and courteous.
I don't know what DavyGee expected for his money.  It isn't the Ritz but you don't pay Ritz prices.
