Stray Puppies Good Homes Needed
« on: June 19, 2012, 15:06:07 PM »
Just back from Telmessos, Koca Calis.  Whilst there we took a six month (approx) large boy puppy (fawn coloured) with white blaize on forehead up to Uzumulu Sanctuary who had been abandoned on the site.  He had been taken to a dumping ground 15 kms away and left to die but we managed to find him and took him  to the sanctuary where a large donation was made.

Blow me down, the same night returning from a night out, a girl puppy (pointer style black with white paws and white blaize) was outside the gates of the complex running around crying and terrified.  As it was 12.30 am, we kept her overnight in the villa, asked around to see if anyone had lost her because she was quite well fed and had a lovely nature and was toilet trained.  The following day we also felt we had to take her to the animal sanctuary in Uzumulu and again made another substantial donation.  If anyone has either lost or is looking to adopt a pet and could offer them loving permanent homes, as we would have if we were permanent residents, your help would be much appreciated.

Thanks for looking after these puppies Howe and taking them to the shelter. I hope the person who owns the little black and white pointer reads this so they know where to find her and the other finds a good home too   :)

Both of us are animal lovers and although we've had the villa for 9 years now, this is the only incident that we've come across with pups. We along with most of the other owners always feed the cats that are on site, but cats are good survivors unlike vulnerable pups. but the little girl pup would never have survived. So whilst at the time it was very upsetting it was a blessing that we were there at that time. We also informed all the expats living on site and they are now aware that if this happens again, God forbid, they will take them in the car directly to the sanctuary or at least ring the centre directly. So lets hope that lessons will be learned.

Hi Tinkerman. Is it true that some vets in the UK will donate out of date vaccinations for the centre? If they do we would be more than happy to bring these out with us and either take them directly to the centre or drop them off to you?

Yes this is very true! we have several vets who regularly send outdated stock over, just make sure it goes into your suitcase!

Thanks again.  :)
