In a community that puts its anti racist credentials high, Sunderland (as indeed Swindon) should never have appointed Il Duce - don't push the ref - De Canio in the first place!!

I said before that he should not have been appointed, in fact O'Neil should not have been sacked.  Last nights laruping just shows how inconsistent the team have been this season.  3-0 win against Newcastle followed by a 1-0 win over Everton should have been the springboard for a recovery.  But, last nights result shows it is the players at fault and not the manager.  Not even Sir Alex could sort the team out in 6 weeks, now only 2 weeks.  De Canio to stay until the end of the season, then have a clear out, including players and backroom staff.  Start afresh next season, whether its in the Premiership or the Championship.

The two wins were no surprise - as we all know this is common after the appointment of a new manager. Keeping that going is the hard part and I would have said if anyone could, Di Canio could. But he didn't and that tells you everything you need to know about the squad he inherited.
