I don't understand anyone not having house insurance, however, some people whose homes have flooded in the past cannot get insurance

Haven't you just explained to yourself why some people don't have insurance ?
[/qu EECote]

Exactly what I thought when I read it.

I don't understand people who have no problem getting house insurance not getting it.  There is no reason not to have it when it's available.   I feel sorry for the people who cannot get it because they have been flooded in the past and the Insurance Companies will not cover them.

Is that better, hate to keep anyone awake worrying about insurance. ;D  ;)

Jacqui with respect not everyone has their own business and/or a husband in a well paid career - for some people it's renew the house insurance or feed the kids.

It's not the greatest idea people might have, but it is absolutely understandable.

I understand that, and we were once struggling with two kids and a mortgage to pay, but we always made it a priority to pay our house insurance, even thought it was difficult going at the time.  Our budget was extremely tight in those days.  In fact, I remember one month we had a whole £10.00 left and we thought we were rich.  :)

As quoted in a previous post £8,000 per year for flood insurance, £666 per month!!!! Get real, you would certainly have to earn mega bucks to afford that, on top of your house/contents insurance and a mortgage. I am sure that if your are in a high income bracket, its not a problem.

Many council/housing estates have been flooded for the first time and probably had no idea that this would happen to them. You live where you work generally and don't have choices to move in this economic climate. If you have a job, which enables you to look after your family, you are blessed nowdays.

The relevant agencies need to invest hard cash, it will save misery, time and money in the long run.

I said I feel sorry for people who live on the flood plans and cannot get insurance. I watched a programme yesterday. The poor couple who have now been flooded out 3 times cannot get insurance at any price.  The Insurance Companies refuse to insurance them.
I was speaking about people NOT on flood planes who never bother to get insurance for their home contents.
