There have obviously been problems with accessing the forums during our peak/busy times of day recently.
Upgrades have taken place (and thank you to Mushtaq for his help too), and I understand that the first evening (last) was a vast improvement.
Active users has now gone from the bottom of the main forum page. I don't know if this has any effect on the performance, but as things stand the forums are working well and I don't want to tinker any more and jeopadise that - so things will reamin as they are while we monitor accessibility etc. over the next week or so.
If things slide again, we will need to move to a new style of forum, which may be painful for us. There would be 35000+ posts to convert and move. It may also be irritating for the members who know their way round this site as second nature.
