There are plenty of memories of how they were before and we have the pleasure of seeing how they are now, I thought a liitle look at how they were prepared was a little different.

Hi Amanda

Raods are gradually being done, but green area is taking time. I take it you mean the community open space as they call it here.

The roads are great though. It is much less of a chore to get up and down from the Oludeniz road now.

Cheers

Hi All

A word of warning regards new roads, As thebillet mentioned,
The drains have been tared and gravelled over, but not by one layer.

Some drains are 6inches below the road surface now, so beware when driving, as they would not do your hire car much good, and it may not be covered by insurance.:( there's always a down side what[?]

Cheers

Colin and Denise

A down side? More so if you drive down one on your moped !!!!!

No need to worry about the drains now folks. There have been several men digging great holes in the new roads to dig them all out. All the rubble has just been left around the edges. Very smart!!

Oh dear does it all look a mess again now with huge holes everywhere in the middle of the roads.Thats ridiculous if cars and dolmuses have to go up there.
Back to square 1 are we??
It looked so tidy and smart too

it can't be as bad as it was.hopefully it will get more "landscaped" now,if all that rubble is gone.any pics of green area available(comm open space)we are next to platin appts.

To be perfectly honest most of it is a poor job. The tar is already showing through the gravel in a lot of places and it is crumbling in others. At least it us up by us. It was going to be steam rollered in but they didn't bother in the end. Sorry everyone. Yes the holes are a mess.

Post by: chewyturk on October 24, 2007, 15:42:03 PM
Our nearest hole has had a cement ring put in and is level (sort of) with the road surface - a nice level grate to finish off maybe??
By our standards the roads are laughable - but they're no worse than other roads around fethiye.

We arrived on Sunday and were amazed at the difference that the roads have made. Yes - they dont look like they will last a long time before they start to get pot holes etc - but it is a hundred times better than it was 8 weeks ago when we were last out. The area looks so much better. I have taken some pictures of the small road between Forest Hills blocks and will send to Terry and Colin when back. Hating the rain though!!

There seems to be a conflict of opinion as poor Mercury is depressed, chewyturk said laughable and Doug says "what a difference"
I am confused now LOL

Laughable by british standards (hardly the M1), but quite normal for Turkey, and yes a hell of a lot better than it was !!!

Glad to see roads coming there as I dread to think what it would be like during the winter with the torrential rains. The soil and the dust was horrendous during the summer but I dont live there now so no more problems for me as regards Deliktas although I miss it oddly enough.

well done with the photos, i'd manage 2 spend 3 days down at GV and had taken a few photos 4 the forum, but they would only compliment the others. I;m new to the ownership/ road issues however have  agree that the surfaces were already showing some signs of depreciation around the route to GV. Still havin only just bought, there are signs of improvements and an enormous amount of cats running around the bins (i.e. thats supposed to mean a lot and not one huge cat!!). Saw Ayahn and Givan and both send their love.

It is a pity. The drainage at the sides of the roads were completed up the hill as far as Green Valley. However, this was not done at Forest Hills and after the rains 7 days ago a chunk of the newly laid road (outside Pam and Johns villa for those of you that know them) was swept away. If nothing else is done then over the winter the rains will deteriorate the roads further.

What did make me smile though was finding out that these roads were laid as part of an EU Grant believe it or not :D

Hi Doug
we are right opposite john and pams place!
How bad is it and is it a return to the mess we had before/
What are John and Pam going to do about it and can we all help.
Do Colin and Denise know and is it serious?

There is damage right outside their gate in same place that they had previous problems with water damage. About 5 feet by 2 feet of new road has been eroded away. Same as you go further up the hill with edges being damaged by running water. Your side has no problems whatsover. Ali Yenik has been informed but will likely say that it is up to council to fix.
Title: Yes Roads!!
Post by: telsoo on October 30, 2007, 18:10:18 PM
You are right about that spot as the problem has always been there in previous years.
It must be a weak area that needs better foundations beneath and I hope John and Pam can sort it as very unfair on them.
Hope Ali accepts its a problem and sorts it.This has been dragging on for years in the same area just in front of their gate so obviously something is not right where their drive meets the road.
Have you any pics
Let me know if we can help but I suppose Mehmet is on the case too!!

Any news as to how our area has suffered with the recent storms and in particular if the roads have stopped the mudslide effect of recent years.

Area directly in front of baba market has 2 new apartment blocks under constuction. Opposite Gocke aparts, 3 new blocks going-up. No other changes near Platin. Just up from irem bufe turn right - this road has been dug-up to lay water pipes and is now a giant mudslide. Everything else up to green valley - no change.
Telsoo - when the thunder stops i'll venture up further and have a look around.

Area around Forest Hills - hole in the road in the mouth of the 1st drive gates of LH block (the one with the big sign outside).
Hole has a water pipe showing and is full of water - rather appropriately, just above on the wall it says "SU" in red paint !!!
Everywhere else is ok.

Hi Colin
Another site has reported the strongest winds and heaviest rain for 3 years in Fethiye a few days ago.
Have you any idea if we are ok and if John and Pam had any further trouble!
Chewyturk would know I guess.

Now understand from our neighbours in Forest hills that we have roads ,street lights, drains and dolmuses now and its looking good.
Also "The Viewpoint" development is due to be finished this year.

There is a rumour the council may want a 600TYL contribution per property towards the vast new main sewer installed in the valley and we may get bills for this payment soon but its at the rumour only stage.
Title: Yes Roads!!
Post by: sporran on February 08, 2008, 21:35:43 PM
Has anyone got any idea as to how many apartments within "The Viewpoint" complex have been sold. I suspect very few but could be wrong.
Title: Yes Roads!!
Post by: HappyMonday on February 09, 2008, 10:40:47 AM
Last time I raised the point about not buying on the Viepoint until all the lifts and 'cable car' had been completed I came under attack from several people involved in The Viewpoint project.  Any sign whether these have been completed and running yet?  :D

I also heard the 'rumour' about the 600 Lira+ charge - probably from same source (Pam & Johnny).

Post by: Scunner on February 09, 2008, 11:06:39 AM
We had a meeting with the developers of The Viewpoint (System Yapi) at their offices and proposed a fairly unique plan for selling the apartments, which they agreed to.

The next thing was a humanless email from them a couple of weeks later saying that the whole development was to be exclusively marketed by one "international agent". We were further advised that we, and other agencies should remove the project from our websites and portfolios. They kindly thanked us for our support during 2007. We never heard from them again.

Knowing the current climate in the market, I would love to know who this "international agent" is, who they think can sell 280 units in one complex in Fethiye, better than dozens of local agencies with customers in town, sitting in front of them.

Agencies simply don't need to have every project on their books, we have enough choice for our customers - and where we may have sold The Viewpoint, we'll be selling something else instead.

Note for those of you in Forest Hills - heard today that building has commenced next to Pam/Johnnys and Bill/Mags place.  Could this be the Green Valley 2 complex?
Title: Yes Roads!!
Post by: Kirby on February 10, 2008, 00:19:52 AM
If it is Doug - we have not been told (nothing new there hahahahahaha).  'If' it is - he wants to get all of Green Valley 1 (and a bit - being G Block!!!) sorted first! He still has 19 or so apartments in blocks a-f (Green Valley) & 6 apartments / duplexes I believe in G Block which was added on as an after thought - which is nothing to do with our Green Valley! Though he likes to think it is - but that's another story which we will not enter into hahaha.

I cant see a lot of space there for a big complex as only about a quarter of the "Green valley" one and there is only a small area in front of John and Pams going down the hill.
To their left looking down by the sign is the road with telegraph poles so what space is there?
Just that small bit in front of their pool?
It would take one small block but no more.

Re the viewpoint complex, I remember getting a phone call from Ocean estates international in July last year about viewing the showhouse if i was interested. I remember him saying that most of the apartments had been sold and if i was interested i should be quick as they will soon all be sold. Needless to say i have heard nothing since. Does that mean they are all sold - doubt it!!

Whilst the land that they have started building is at the side of the villas the actual land that we believed to be purchased also includes to the front of our complex.

Apart from the road itself which was widened, there is hardly any land in front of our sign apart frm a small triangle next to John and Pam and you wouldnt get one villa on there even without a pool.
How can they get a complex on it?
One villa perhaps but no room for a complex like Green Valley as just the pool area would take up all the space.
I must be missing something

Hmmm this is very interesting bcz we have purchased an apartment at viewpoint and I heard the developer still has quite a few to sell....

Also we purchased our apartment via a UK agent not an International agency.

There must be plenty still for sale just like plenty of other complexes in the area and plenty of work until they are completed. Last time we were out they were painting the exteriors and one or two had balcony rails fitted.
