Does anyone know where I can get a rhubarb plant? I do not know what the Turkish name for rhubarb is.I think it would grow in Ovacik as we have cold weather up here in the winter. Any growing advice too if you already have some planted?

I've got some that was bought as a dry root from Wilkinson's in the UK a couple of years ago.
I grow it in a pot and have just moved it back on to terrace to keep it shaded through the summer. I'll move it back into the full-light around October. It needs plenty of manure and water and you should avoid it getting caught by a heavy frost.
We've got rhubard and apple crumble for tea tonight.

Thanks for the replies, I will go up to Brian's nursery in Nif. If you see a woman with a bucket and shovel picking up horse manure you will know why!

Avoid using Goat sh1t. There's generally far too many seeds in it.

I bought some from Brian a few weeks back he also has some really nice raspberry canes. 8)

Grew ten plants from seed gave 8 away they are growing really well, mine!! vanished, put them in the soil suspect this years winters rain rotted them, certainly will try again, seem to be having success with gooseberry's and have grown edible parsnips

I have brought some runner bean seeds from the UK and am going to give them a try in pots this week. I miss being able to buy parsnips in Hisaronu market from the Nif market gardener. They do not seem to be a crop that thrives here.

Just found your advice on rhubarb KKOB.Very useful.Any idea how I can contact the Brian from Nif about a possible root? I would love to grow some in a pot. :)

Try PMing Bibby or Firo. They'll probably have contact details for him. I think it's called The Village Garden at Niff / Arpacik.

Daffodil, I have e-mailed you with the telephone numbers for Village Garden. I bought Rhubarb plants off him last year and had Rhubarb throughout the year, just be careful where you plant them they don't like too much sun. Brian is always at the Calis Boot selling his wares.

Thanks a lot. I will try and contact him for plants and advice. :)I did meet him at the Hisaronu boot sale once. :)
