Title: The Turkish Stars at Oludeniz Air Games
Post by: KKOB on October 17, 2009, 06:45:30 AM: The Turkish Air Force aerobatic display team, The Turkish Stars / Türk Yildizlari, have changed their performance time from midday to 2pm on Sunday 18th October in the sky over Oludeniz on the final day of the 10th Oludeniz Air Games.

They are currently the only display team in the world performing a full display with 8 supersonic jet aircraft. We watched their rehearsal on Friday and today and it looks like Sunday's show is going to be pretty spectacular.

Post by: Dempava on October 17, 2009, 11:39:00 AM: Fethiye Times said the practice for today was yesterday instead. WRONG!!They arrived today on time at 12 noon!!

So tomorrow we're going to be there for 12 o'clock. Just to be on the safe side. Would hate to miss them.

Today all 8 were there.

Anyone from Oludeniz or Ovacik-Hisaronu who can have a look at the time thats written on posters ?

The Turkish Stars will be performing at 12.00 on Sunday.

Some of the old wrecks on the road had to stop and put rocks under the back of their wheels and let out all the passengers before they could move upwards! :o

Post by: hoops man on October 18, 2009, 15:18:47 PM: god the car display was just as exciting.....chaos....it reminded me of old Fethiye people driving just anyway they wanted.Exciting and funny to see.i even joined in doing a u turn in the middle of the chaos.....with a big cheesy grin.....as for the air show it was fantastic...amazing......and it started bang on 12.The place was mobbed and everyone seemed to be in the holiday and party mood.Great to see.

There were 2 traffik jandarma half way up the hill doing plenty hand waving but everyone just ignored them.

Sad to see a really nasty car crash on the road down to Fethiye. Looked really serious and amazing how many cars stopped on the side of the road and people trying to help.

Post by: Ovacikpeedoff on October 19, 2009, 00:01:13 AM: I have seen the Red Arrows in the UK and they appeared to be better. It is difficult to compare as performing in Olu is very difficult because of the mountains all around. This must restrict the stunts that can be done safely.
