Title: Salda lake
Post by: Anne on January 31, 2012, 10:05:21 AM
Looking through the pics from a link Keith put on FB I came across one of the above lake in or around Acipayam village near Denizli.  It looks gorgeous and after asking Mr Google for some more info I think I'd quite like a trip out there.
So, my question is.  Has anyone been there? and is it worth a visit?

Anne, Lake salda is wonderful, the "sand" looks and feels pure white,it is made up of a Hydromagnesite mineral. You can find places to drive on the sand. The views around are great. Some interesting villages. A place to visit for a day or as we did overnight in Yesilova, the only "Hotel" but it had a very nice boudoir room, hand delivered beer from the market food made to order, located at the end of the lake. There are places to eat on the shore. It is far from being "developed". A good stop off if going /coming from Denizli or Isparta way. In our view a little unique and worth the effort.

Anne  - glad you asked this, I thought the same thing when I saw that stunning photo.  So presumably, a stop over could coincide with a trip to Ephesus / Pammukale ?  (or am I lost again ?)

Thanks Alan.  I think this may be on our 'to do' list for this year.
Next question.  If we were to get the bus to Denizli how easy is it to get to from there? Or would we be better hiring a car?

Anne, you are able to catch the Express type bus from Fethiye or the Smart dolmus via Uzumlu and Cameli. For us always a car just for the ease and so much to see and stop for. The route via Cameli is a fantastic drive. A little Locanta in Cameli is good to eat in, the one straight ahead as you turn right in the town centre. A big tobacco growing area at the right time of year. Car hire is the way without a doubt if you want to include lake Salda.
