Title: Dolly Parton like you never heard her before

I love this. Always rated Ms Parton as both a singer and song writer and this sort of validates that.

Does it not make you do the opposite and wonder whether she never sung it at all? To me that certainly doesn't sound like a 45 played at 33, and I'm old enough to know that!

Jeez. And I thought I was cynical.

Went to see her five years ago at Wembley Arena.
Past her best unfortunately (and I swear she was miming) - but she was good in her time.
(And 'miming' playing the banjo is not convincing !!!)
But 'Islands in the stream' still one of my fave songs (even though it's written by the Bee Gees   :) )

Hehe!  That reminds me of when I had a week in Tennessee and we went to her amusement park, Dollywood.   ;D  I fully expected there to be a twin peaks roller coaster or something else to draw more attention to her attributes but no, it was very tasteful and lots of fun.   ;D ;D

See, this is when I wish there was a 'like' button.  It's OK Scunner, I know it can't be done.    ;)

As well as Dollywood, there is the town of
Pigeon Forge, which is well worth a visit if you ever get to the theme park.  All very civilised and people all sooo polite.  It was a pleasure to be there.  Oh course everyone was a cousin of Dolly's and had little tales o tell out her.

It is really sweet and old fashioned isn't it?  I went there with my parents and my first husband and we were staying in a lovely apartment.  The woman who showed us around was really nice and my dad, over-excited by the idea of being in small-town America, asked her where she kept her hooch!!  Her reaction was totally hilarious!!  She looked like he'd kicked her mother in the stomach.   ;D   She said "We don't keep any alcohol here".  She wasn't entirely wrong.  It was quite hard to find.  We even went to hear the local bluegrass band play and there was no alcohol there either.  Amazing.  We chatted to the banjo player who had 'never been out of the three states'.  We loved the whole experience.
