Hurrah !
-
Thanks Don, Enjoyed our visit in September, but hope they have a few more loos this time. Being there on a Saturday night with a full house and two loos in each of the ladies and gents is not good.
-
Did you want to do a Royal Wee then Your Maj ?
-
Just reading this... Not many restaurants have 4 toilets... Did they ever get an upgrade?
-
Was at the Istanbul last night. Over 100 people, fabulous food, and entertainment and lots of people were dancing.
Mezes, then choice of mixed grill, meatballs, chicken, sea bass or sea bream.
Followed by choice of cheesecake, baklava or rice pudding.
Plenty of food, and they came round with extra meat and deserts for those who wanted more.
One men's, one ladies loo... Wasn't a problem though.
We did see 3 men queuing which is unusual but they seemed to be enjoying having a chat while waiting.
Anyone who hasn't been should go on a Saturday night to see Nat and Yil perform it's an excellent evening in beautiful surroundings.
-
Dammit, had I known you were there we could have waved as we passed..... Wandered down to Izela last night for a fantastic meal, but must visit the Istanbul soon.
-
There were several of us from the 3 c's. It was also really nice that Engin made a special mention of the work the 3cs do.
-
Was also there on Saturday night, can highly recommend
Great band and good food, with pick up
And drop off from calis only 40lira / person
Will defo be going again
Also live music on Wednesday nights
-
We visited again in June and had a very good time. Music and food excellent. Shame now only one toilet for Ladies as it did get very messy at the end of the night with paper towels and toilet paper all over the floor.
We also went down for lunch one day and the home made bread, goats cheese, garlic butter and olives as a starter was just lovely. The best bread I have every tasted in Turkey and they make it on the premises.
-
...... it did get very messy at the end of the night with paper towels and toilet paper all over the floor.
Ladies eh ? We never have that sort of problem in the Gents ! ;)

Thats because men don't use toilet paper as much as women do and obviously don't wash their hands so don't need paper towels. Tiny bins for waste paper soon overflow. As Engin said some Saturday's he gets over 100 people. Quite a lot for one Ladies and one Gents.
-
Recycling out of the question?
-
That's probably because men have learnt not to piddle on their hands ? ;)
-
Not on their hands but everywhere else around toilets and toilet seats. ;) ;D
-
Is Saturday night the Turkish night!? I've herd good reviews of this. What is the price for children please. And could somebody provide me with phone number for pick up and reservation please. Thanks

Contact details are in this thread

There's plenty of food, drinks and music but you can't buy children there. ;)
-
There were no children when we have been there on Saturday night. It's really an adult night out that would not be suitable for children and it finishes at midnight when you wait for the buses to collect you.
-
That's me out then. :(
-

It depends entirely on the children. It's not unusual for children of all ages to be there and to thoroughly enjoy the whole evening. There are plenty of things for them to see and do besides the music. I certainly wouldn't call it "an adult night out"although I do recall throwing my carkeys in the table at the start of one night and ending-up riding home on a moped.
-
Is this the old Kaya Park? If not, whatever happened to the old Kaya Park :)
-
No it's not the old Kaya Park.
If it was it would be called The Old Kaya Park instead of the Istanbul Restaurant !
The old Kaya Park is still the Kaya Park.
;)
-
Oh I see
Used to go to the Old Kaya Park (AKA the Kaya Park) regularly many years ago, used to be hundreds there and lots of entertainment. The reason I asked was because I haven't noticed it even mentioned for years.
-
Yeah there were some good nights at the Old Kaya Park....the gates remain though! Perhaps the old knob could enlighten us :) ( sorry, meant the 0ld Kkob this bloody predictive text!!!! ;)))))))
-
Thanks KKOB, and certainly won't be buying any more kids ;)
-
I wouldn't say the night isn't suitable for children - there was a 10 month old baby there last week & this week a family with 3 children around 8 or 9 - they even brought one of the poolside beds & a blanket out for one little girl who just slept through the dancing! We've certainly seen children there most times we've been
-
I am going to get shot down in flames here but I have to say it. I like a night out with grown ups.
I don't want children running around or babies sleeping on sunbeds when I am out in the evening to have a nice meal and chill out with a few drinks and some great entertainment. It is not fair to the adults and more importantly not fair to the children.
The coach picked us up at 6.30pm and we spent 1 hour on it picking people up We arrived had our dinner and some drinks and then settled to watch the first set of Nat and Yil then a break then the second set for dancing and of course lots of drinking. We waited for the coach until 12.30pm and arrived home at 1.50pm. A very very long night. There were no children.
I know my daughter would not dream of taking my Granddaughter to a long night like this and I would not want her to be their either. She is 4 years old and goes to bed at 7.00-8.00pm When not in bed she is a bundle of energy and wants to run and dance and sing. I am sure other diners would not appreciate that if they wanted to listen to the entertainment. There is nothing for the kids to do there and parents would need to watch them as there is a swimming pool at the back of the restaurant. I am sure children would be bored to tears.
I am not a child hater. I love children I adore my Granddaughter and love and want her to be with us, but, sometimes adults need a grown up night to enjoy themselves.
We have been twice and not seen any children probably because it was not the school holidays.
Thanks for the heads up about children it's good to know for the future.

We had 4 offspring and have got 6 grandchildren, so I think we like them, however, when we went on holidays abroad we looked for No Children resorts.
If we go out for a meal at night we look for somewhere where the chance of children is limited.
The main reason is, in many cases there is a definite lack of parental control and some parents, also Turkish, seem to relish seeing their offspring racing between tables, screaming or yelling at the top of their voices.
We have the choice of where we eat and if there are any youngsters acting in a way that may spoil our night, we go somewhere else and leave them to upset the customers that are staying.
-
Agree snow top, we also have 3 off spring with 9 grandchildren and 2great grandchildren. If we go to a venue where children seem out of parental control, we move on.
To inform an inquirer that a particular venue is only suitable for adults as a previous poster did is not only selfish in the extreme but also discriminatory IMHO. :o
-
There were no children when we attended this venue on two occasions, one year apart. So, how would I know that children were allowed?? I naturally assumed it was an adults only venue which is why I gave this advice in all innocence. I wonder why such an innocent remark would call for such a vicious assessment of me? I find it sad, but totally predictable that you judge this selfish and discriminatory.
IMHO and I hope I am allowed one. This place is an adult night out. However, I am a caring parent and grandparent and would not take children to a venue at 6.30pm in the evening, where people are eating and then listening to a very good pair of musicians, and expect the children to sit quietly, or perhaps let them run around and go and explore the swimming pool. I would not then want them to be taken home and be put to bed at 2.00am in the morning. I would firstly think my children should be tucked up in bed and secondly and perhaps more important I would not want to spoilt the evening for adults at the venue if my children got tired fractious or noisy... in fact if they just behaved as children do late at night when all they want is their beds.
Perhaps more selfishly, I want an adult night out with my husband, which is what we got twice in the Istanbul. I don't want children running around or babies sleeping under blankets.
I did my time as a parent when my children were young, and would have never taking them out late at night when we were on holiday. We ate early with them and then put them to bed and usually sat in our apartment wherever we were at in the U.K. or abroad. As responsible parents we put them and their needs first. So, I have served my time and now want to enjoy my nights out, child free.
I note Sadler that you say if children are out of parental control, in a restaurant you would walk out. I want you to tell me how you would do this at the Istanbul please?? As everyone who is eating there is picked up by bus! If children were running around you would have to lump it or get a taxi. Or perhaps complain to the parents and tell them to get a taxi?
-
Jacqui, I agree with you 100%
I love kids and there are loads of kid friendly things to do around here and places to go, the Istanbul with a great singer and saxophonist ain't one of them.
-
If this venue were not advertised as "an adult only " occasion then one would presume that cliental of all ages were welcome and not prohibited at the behest of one particular diner. You seem to have taken my remarks as personal Jacqui, but they are not however I find your attitude to fellow holiday makers quite over bearing. I have been at venues where children have been a bit of a menance, but have never had the arrogance to assume that my attendance was more important than their's. Have you given Saga holidays a thought?
-
Jacqui.
I admire your restraint. I also agree with you.
-
I think this topic is going the wrong way, this is a holiday area and in this modern day ( although we may not agree with it), Restaurants are a place to take the family for an evening meal.
In the era I come from which is 1940's, children were taught to be seen and not heard, this is a bit over the top in this "Modern Society" but we didn't seem to have the social problems we now have.
If a child is NOT running about and screaming at the top of his/her voice I do not have a problem. It is those parents who tell the child to shut up and sit down and the child more or less says "Up yours I will do what I want" that P****s me off.
Parents are supposed to give guidance to children for their future in adulthood.
You only have to read the papers to see where a lot of parents lack the skills they need to bring up their offspring to fit in with the main stream society.
I now get off my soapbox and wait for the re-action of those people without the skills required to raise children in a manner where they respect, foremost themselves, their family and the rest of the human race.
Ps I can ramble on at times.
-
When we moved to Scotland our girls were 8 and had grown up for the greater proportion of their lives in Turkey. Believe it or not they were the first to complain if kids started running around in the cinema, or in a restaurant! But in Turkey it was fairly normal that after the meal there would be kids running around having fun - which is why we take them on holiday surely? It's a lot different having kids running around a large, outside restaurant once everyone has eaten, it's nothing at all like them doing it inside a British pub restaurant.
I don't know the restaurant in question, but what sort of evening out do people think families should have? Out, eat, pay, home?
Not much of a holiday that.
-
What a difference in the opinions, (in this respect) between Senior citizens, (that's me) and non- Senior citizens, (under 65's).
I think we seniors, in general, prefer the quite peaceful life after being there, done that, had the tantrums, squeals etc, and had a similar attitude to life as the non seniors,(in general) do.
-
I think it's fine to bring children to restaurants in the evening and there is no problem.
I have seen children at Calis restaurants and in Fethiye The good thing is, you can get up and take the kids for a walk, a wander around the shops, back to the accommodation etc.,
The key here is Scunner, you have not been to the Istanbul. So don't have any ideal of the layout. It is an open air restaurant but the space is used well and filled so no open areas.
Firstly, you get picked up by coach (around 6.30pm) and are take out there. Once dropped off, this restaurant fronts right onto the main road and sits on a S bend in the road. The stage with the musicians, sits in front of the main road, so not possible to play there. The back, where the toilets are has a swimming pool, which has no cover or railings and then chalets which are rentals. So, there is nowhere a child could run and play safely. Once there you cannot pick yourself up and go anywhere else, basically you are there until the coach comes back to pick you up around 12.15-12.30am.
Snowtop, I think you are right. When you have had your family and then once again have the freedom to go out and enjoy yourselves, without worrying about the children, you revert back to the time when you did not have kids and you realise what fun adults nights out are.
-
Never been one to favour coach trips myself with or without the grandchildren. Each to their own I say. ;D
-
I too, being in the more senior category, prefer to not have other peoples children running around, screaming and generally being obnoxious. So, you can shoot me down in flames too if you like ! I brought up two daughters single handed, and when on holiday if I used to take them out they used to have to behave, otherwise I took them home to bed, simple. The problem is these days some parents turn a blind eye when their kids are running around like lunatics and spoiling it for everyone else. I'm sure yours were well behaved Scunner, and I'm sure many other people on here who are getting uptight about some of the more general remarks kept their children under control too. But, I have been to places where the kids have been totally out of control, and the parents haven't batted an eyelid, and that's what makes my blood boil. I would like to see more 'adult only' restaurants, at least then we have a choice, and can guarantee a quiet relaxing evening. Until then, it's purely chance when planning a night out whether or not it's going to be ruined by someone's unruly kids !
-
Having been To The Istanbul I totally agree with you Jacqui.. Definatley not a venue for children on the entertainment nights...There are more suitable places to go with children...
-
We have been twice recently children there both times happy to listen to the music. When my son and his wife come over with my grandson, I will post on here to let some of you know which restaurants we will be visiting each night so as not to spoil your holiday. The Istanbul will be one of them, but so as not to offend anyone by keeping a child out late (even on holiday) I will drive there and if Jensen makes a murmer I will bundle him back in the car and take him home.
Perish the thought of families having the right to go on holiday and enjoy a night out!!!!
here is a picture of the offending child to keep an eye out for.
As you can see he does not shop at Marks and sparks and likes heavy rock.

Unfortunately not all children are as well behaved as yours Mark and are not happy to sit and listen to the music. Most of us have grandchildren and take them out later than we would in The UK. There are many places which are more suitable than this venue... It is just personal opinion concerning just this particular night out....
-
Come on folks lets drop the attitude and bickering.
The Saturday night shows at the Istanbul Restaurant aren't "Adults Only" in the sense that kids aren't allowed.
If anyone wants to take their kids Engin and his staff will welcome them and their children.
Whether or not the kids enjoy the night will depend on the individual kids and, I guess, their upbringing.
-
If the adults want to go because it's their sort of thing, why not. It could well be that at the same time it's not their kids sort of thing. And what kids do when it's not their thing is run around and make their own entertainment. Big deal! Anyone died yet? No? Panic over.
-
Istanbul also has great entertainment on Wednesday's as well.. Bad Company. A group from the past..
-
What a gorgeous little chap, Karaokemark, you must be so proud of him. :D
-
Not Bad Company, but Chris Fretwell who wrote for them & appeared in a much later line up of a Bad Company!
-
Half right. Must have misheard.. It was a long evening.
-
What nights will the singer and sax player be in September and how do you contact them for bookings

What night is the bouncy castle
-
That's every night. It keeps all the kids, and those that want to act like kids, amused while everyone else enjoys the adults only entertainment. ;)
-
Now now!!!
-
He started it........again !
-
Jensen will only be 11 months old, if there is no ball pool we will refuse to go!!!
-
Contact Engin, and if he refuses to install one, we'll start a petition.
If we can get 10 signatures it'll have to be discussed in parliament the Mozaik Bahce.

If we get 20 signatures can we get baby changing facilities installed as well, and cots with sun shades ;-)

There used to be a "bouncy castle" at the Istanbul but it was blown out of all proportion. ;)
