On the scrounge again :)
There are families of Syrian refugees in and around Fethiye who the RAF (Refugee Aid Fethiye) group are trying to make a bit of a difference to those families who are trying make a new start after incredibly traumatic life journeys so far.
I thought that maybe those of us who have enjoyed great times and kindness when we visited Turkey might just want to help...
If anyone wants to assist, they need 4 washing machines ASAP - could you spare some cash for those who have nothing and have lost everything?
If you can, bless you - please donate at www.paypal.com - make the payee keith@calis-beach.co.uk and jobs a good 'un.
A small pledge could make such a difference to people who are just like you, but just not as lucky as you.
Thanks.

I will donate later via Paypal Keith once im back on my secure wifi...I see it as giving something back to lovely Turkey for all the great times I v had here :)
-
Will do. I think I have a bit of cash left in PayPal I can send. My new Fitbit strap can wait😉
-
Done.
-
Hi Keith - I'd like to donate but having had money taken from my Paypal account without my knowledge or permission I refuse to use Paypal. Is there any other way of donating?
-
Done!
-
I'm in.
JF
-
Many thanks for the donations so far - great start.
If anyone wants confirmation of receipt please PM me as I don't want to list donors on here as some people don't want the publicity.
One more thing please - If you kindly donate, please do not use the words Syria or Syrian in your donation reason notes - Paypal shut RAF and my own accounts thinking perhaps that the money was to arm terrorists :o
Thank you all again, and to anyone considering donating, these poor people can flourish given the basics - we have a Syrian girl in Perth who fled with her family - she is now starting the same Media course next year that my daughter Robyn is on.
They just need a long deserved break.
-
Ok, I made it out to the gulen foundation for the overthrow of dictators, and signed it as Peter P. Kay.

And received with thanks.
All these years we've known each other and I still never have an idea who it is from. Your surname to me is, and always will be, F.
-
Just to give everyone a glimpse into the conditions these folk are living in - and grateful for - here are some photos:

p.s. the washing machine doesn’t work.
Come on guys, if you can spare a fiver, tenner or whatever you can change some lives for the better..!

Just sent our Donation Keith....We are also taking over 46 kilos of children"s clothes for the charity when we next go over in July :)
46 kilos - WOW that's fantastic - well done you :) :) :)
-
Well done madam I think ;)
-
And we have got another 46 kilo ready to take with us in October when we go, our lovely friend Paula works in the Charity shop in Calis and she asked us if we can get any childrens clothes for her to take to the refugees, we have a big family and lots of friends so as soon as we told them we were collecting any unwanted kids clothes and who they are for, well that was it...they keep coming and coming !!!
-
Amazing TT - what an amazing thing to do and what an amount of clothes. Well done!!
-
TOSH TOSH
I am struggling to find the words to express my admiration for your generosity.
I have total respect for what you are doing :) :) :)
-
Did you get enough for the washing machines?
-
Sorry for the late reply, once again I have been away.
We are two washing machines down and well on to washing machine 3.
Unfortunately a couple of donors have mentioned Syria in their donation message and they are currently frozen by Paypal.
The response has been fantastic so far - thanks to all who have sent donations.
-
Ah that is fab news re on the way to the 3rd washer nice one
-
Unfortunately a couple of donors have mentioned Syria in their donation message and they are currently frozen by Paypal.
Rosie says, "if they resend and say it is for a birthday present or for animals or grandchildren it will get through. We did this and it went through ok"
-
Done Keith, under good cause.
-
Quite so Jim - many thanks, and safely received.
-
How much short?
JF
-
I’ll do a tot up tomorrow John, I think we must be within striking distance.
If anyone who has donated in the non PayPal way can you let me know? Appreciate your support and am not always sure from my online banking who it came from.
-
Again apologies for taking a while to update you guys - things are frantic 8)
OK so - the response has been fantastic, believe me every penny helps and you have sent many pennies :D
In Lira terms...
4x washing machines = 4x 900TL (special price offered by Bekir at Eren Spot [deliberate plug for the great man and his business])
= 3600TL
Donations received to date (@ 6.059/£)
= 2366TL
Yes, in no time we have raised £390.50!!
Thanks to all, I am proud of you
We push on, there's more needed - £203.66 to be precise ;)
-
Just added to my donation.
Makes such a difference knowing what is needed and what we're achieving.
A washing machine - such a vital piece of equipment.
Well done Keith.
-
Well my post earlier was certainly effective in pushing things on - we needed £203.66 a few hours ago...
Now we just need £103.66!!!
Amazing members here on CBF - let's get this sorted :)
-
I'll do the £3.66...
:)
JF
-
It hasn't arrived yet 8)
-
Check your PayPal - the £3.66 was covered many hours ago.
Only £100 left to do - unless exchange rates have gone bonkers!
-
Yes good point Stuart
John we have done the £3.66 :D
-
Bugger.

And received thanks Steve - I’m away again but hope to update tomorrow evening, before going away again :)
-
Did we achieve our goal of 4 washing machines? :)
-
Keith is on holiday so I guess we will need to wait for an update
I am sure the power of CBF has done the good deed though
-
Yes thanks Anne, I am indeed away and can’t check my PayPal for some reason - but can report we are well on our way to reaching our aim.
Please bear with me, I’ll do a full update next week.
