The information from the Fethiye Times is excellent, we will be doing the 3 day crossing route next year.
For those considering this, if you go via Switzerland there is a large fee, it covers 1 year, for travelling through. This is not a cost effective option, see the AA website for current costs. 8)

hi i used to be a truck driver tho never drove to turky i went to ancoer menny times nice drive over mont blonc the vews are grait .next year im ridding to turky on my moter bike i will let you know how i get on jim

following on what documents are required to allow a car in for a holiday period say 3 months, and has anyone done the venice - izmir route ?

Just the normal documents, V5 ( Registration document ) and Green Card Insurance.

searching the insurance web sites for insurance for 3 months stay in turkey, can get eu cover as part of package on uk insurance, got to be a solution any ideas ? cheers in advance.

Many UK insurance companies won't insure you past Istanbul. It's because of the Europe / Asian thing. Once you cross into Asia they regard it as "Bandit Country".

Buy Green Card Insurance at the port / border of entry into Turkey. It's not expensive.
