How To Switch a Tapu into another name
« on: August 18, 2009, 11:31:15 AM »
Hello

Can anyone help.

Both me and my husband have a 50% share in a place in calis.  Sadly due to personal change in circumstances we need to sell our share.

We have been asked by another couple if they can buy our share for what we paid for it so we would not be making a profit.

Does anyone know how easy this would be to do and if we could do it in England and if so where.

Thanks in advance

It can't be done in England.
All four of you will need to be in Turkey and go through the buying and selling process as normal.
It's not as simple as just changing the names on your tapu.

As Anne says, there is no way to change names on a tapu, so in effect you and the two people you own with have to sell the property to the new two and the two you currently share it with. With that comes a new search, property purchase tax and all the other costs you paid first time around. Speak to Ozlen, it isn't as complicated as it sounds, but it won't be a couple of hundred quid either - although her fee will be dwarfed by the other costs.

Reply could me and my hubby give power of attorney to the other couple to sell?  We can get POA over here.

I knew it would be complex but its just mind boggling!

You could give POA to someone to deal with the sale, I'm not sure you could give it to the other couple, as they are the buyers and sellers in this strange transaction. Best giving it to the solicitor.
