I know it's very seldom mentioned by my friends South of the Border but it was today in 1966 that Engerland won the World Cup.

It is said that everyone remembers where they were and what they were doing when JFK was shot but do you remember where you were and what you were doing on this day in 1966.

I was watching the game, and as I may have said before, I can always remember the 'old man' at either half-time or at full-time before extra time, sending me to the local shops to buy him 20 Weights.  I can see that short journey in my mind's eye now, boy did I run fast and leap over the various obstacles on the way to get back for the rest of the game.

There may have been a couple of quart bottles of Courage on the sideboard, along with some R Whites Lemonade, all to be consumed during the game.
