Reports in the papers this morning that there were at least another three attacks in Istanbul yesterday - not as widely reported as the two women, possibly because nothing was caught on camera, but still a concern.
TD's report on these incidents is unusually short:
A service bus carrying judicial personnel and an armored police vehicle were attacked by unidentified assailants in separate incidents in istanbul on Thursday evening.
The service bus was attacked along the TEM highway around 7:15 p.m. No casualties were reported in the attack although but the bullets hit a police car escorting the bus.
In a separate incident, an armored police car was attacked by long-barrel guns in the Beyoğlu district of istanbul. Three assailants opened fire at the police vehicle from a car and then escaped, reports say. No casualties were reported in the incident.
Also on Thursday night, the official car of istanbul-based Fatih Sultan Mehmet University rector was attacked along TEM highway. The driver of the car was injured in the attack while the rector was not travelling in the car. The
Sabah were also pretty quiet about events yesterday, their sole contribution was a few lines about the second and third incidents mentioned by TZ - although they put the second as being a few miles away, in Okmeydanı as opposed to Beyoğlu:
In a separate incident, three gunmen also attacked a police car in Istanbul's Okmeydanı neighborhood, which is connected to Kağıthane and Şişli districts on the European side, Thursday night, police said. The Hurriyet is unusually quiet about all three incidents, not a mention.
I'm wondering if the government are stepping up their "news blackouts" on terrorist related incidents, maybe "encouraging" the media to down play events.
