Rock and roll legend Chuck Berry has died aged 90, police in US state of Missouri report.

Although I must admit, I thought he'd been dead for years.

I remember seeing him in 1966 in Newcastle. Great bluesman/rock & roller. Didn't trust anyone very much: not agents, not managers, not other hangers-on. On tour just booked two, adjacent airline seats - one for him, one for his guitar. Got his backup band selected (and paid for) by the tour organizers: "Just make sure they know my stuff!".  I'm sure he recorded "My Dingaling" to show you could make a shed-load of money by selling cr*p to people who don't know better - and to make a shed-load of money, of course. RIP.

My first ever LP was Chuck Berry's  One Dozen Berries when I was sixteen, and nobody I knew had heard of him. I've still got it.

I saw him live several times and believe he deserved the description as a "legend". A true one of a kind Blues Star.    RIP.

I'll give you a fiver for it mate, all its worth as its so old now  ;)

A classic:

Ironically, this was the B side to Mary Whitehouse's favourite Chuck Berry song - mind you, as Billy Connolly once said in reference to her high moral stand against anything slightly risque "I wouldn't be too happy either if my surname rhymed with toilet"  :)

She was good. She knew a everything about anything that was immoral, but never watched or took part in it.  ;)

   John
Sorry mate, it's priceless, it's a reminder that Chuck Berry (along with myself) were early trailblazers. When those around me

were singing "hot diggity dog diggity" and enquiring about the price of Mongrels in shop windows, I was practicing with my

Ding a ling and Be Bopping Lula.      ;)  ;)             :)
