Stuart MacDonald (aka Rod Stewart) Memorial
« on: February 16, 2019, 22:16:38 PM »
Back in October 2017 CBF members generously donated to ensure that a headstone was erected at the grave of Stuart MacDonald (aka Rod Stewart) who selflessly raised thousands of lira for the Calis Children’s Charity.

The headstone has been bought and paid for and was erected last month (more of that in the future).

It transpires that due to the generosity of CBF members (and the people of the Calis on the Tribute Night compered by Rimms) there is money left over.

It is appropriate that members be asked as to how they think this surplus should be best spent.

So all suggestions welcome - by the end of this month please.

Personally I think it should go to the 3C's which is what Stuart dedicated so much time raising money for.

Whilst animal charities are closest to my heart, given that Stuart gave most of his time raising money for 3C's I believe any left over monies should go to them or shared with Embrace. RIP Stuart

Stuart was passionate that kids, whenever possible,  should have the ability to hear; it was always his wish that the money raised from his tribute nights be spent on providing hearing implants for deaf children. What better legacy, of Stuart's sterling efforts, could there be for this surplus than continuing in this vein?

I am the same as other member re animal charities being close to my heart, but as Stuart did his amazing tribute nights for the children’s charities and after reading Liz’s comment about children being able to hear I too feel that would be a very fitting tribute to donate to the deaf children from a man who brought so much joy from his singing to us folk who are able to hear...wouldnt it be just brilliant if like a sort of foundation in his name for the deaf children was able to be set up and maybe once a year or something members if they so wish could donate to it via CBF like from one of your fundraising thingys Highlander?

I agree with Liz101 that a very fitting use of the surplus funds raised should go towards helping a hearing impaired child. This was a cause that Stuart strongly supported.

A donation to help hearing impaired children is a perfect use of the surplus funds imo.
