classy goals and cheeky free kicks
« on: September 01, 2007, 00:34:05 AM »
I know you see some brilliant goals from free kicks, like a forward taking a free kick while the goalie is putting his gloves on at the post then feeling guilty about it, like hell he did, but 2 goals i remember were absolutely brilliant, the first was Frank Worthington, playing for Bolton i think, when he was in front of a defender with his back to goal, he flicked it over his head, ran round the defender and wolloped it straight in, the  second was a bit more intricate, i think it was Mike Summerbee & Francis Lee, i'm most likely wrong, a free kick in front of goal, the wall lined up, the player taking the kick flicked it up, the player to his right hit it on the volley into the net, didn't have as much height to make up, it was banned after that, cos the ref couldn't tell if it had done a complete circle or not, any more?.
