Title: Cods Wallop
Post by: mercury on August 17, 2009, 23:27:16 PM
Tonight we had our fix of English food and went to Cods Wallop in Hisaronu. Excellent fish and chips  had by three of us and  homemade cornish pastie chips. peas and gravy. This we followed with a good helping of jam roly poly and custard. Apple crumble and custard and my husband had a huge helping of lovely cheesecake. It was all freshly cooked, homemade chunky chips and the best mushy peas (apart from my own)!! Definately the best fish and chips we have tried in the area. Owned by Jackie and Susan from Yorkshire. No wonder it is so good.:D

No Gina we don't live in Calis but we have tried some of these places. However we do like to go to Hisaronu and these meals were all excellent and cheaper than Calis.

This is a great plaice (excuse the pun!!) to eat. Its just under 17 lira for the main fish, chips, mushy peas with bread and butter. The staff are welcoming and friendly. This was the price in Aug 09. We pop in every holiday....its a consistantly high standard over our last 4 years of visiting x

Cod's Wallop is just the name of the place. All I know is that it is white fish and is delicious.

17 TL for Fish & Chips.....I don't think so!  15 TL will get me Garlc Prawns or Prawn Cocktail, Cod Fish & Chips served with mushy peas and English Tartare sauce.(Excellent) Followed by apple crumble and custard or a pancake. No Contest.  Last time I went a large Efes was 3TL.....Where?.....Zakkum Restaurant In Fethiye near Migros :)

Thats a great price..........unfortunately \\\\\hisaronu command higher prices. Cods wallop is great...not a cod in sight (haddock) and imported. Always makes me laugh when Brits love the fresh fish.....Its no fresher than Iceland etc.....but the food is lovely...great batter, freshly cooked chips..........its fab!!! Prices in F always appear amd are cheaper but for what we have in H....its pretty tasty

Admittadly havent been to Codswallap for a while but have to say I'm not that keen on Haddock and the pies always seemed to be microwaved! There are more and more places doing fish and chips and pies now. In my opinion 4 Seasons in Ovacik is hard to beat - the fish is so big that I only ever have the childs portion, the fish is excellant and the batter to die for, try there if you want a real authentic and great value for money meal  :) They are open all year and do takeaways  8)

We went into Codswallop today for lunch as we both fancied fish and chips. What a shock the bill was! Not the reasonably priced meal we have had there in the past - fish and chips now cost £8.50 each. Admittedly we should have looked more carefully at the price but we still get caught out when places price things in GBP. Two more lost customers at least.

Two other restaurants to try in Ovacik/Hisaronu are Turtle Restaurant and the Chill Out Restaurant The Fish and Chips are first Class include M/peas around 12 TL. Better still they serve up some great Turkish fare too for the people not ready for the F&C fix.

Last week.
The other half had trout, chips and salad and I had fish and chips.(mushy peas not real)But on the whole a very good meal.

8 TL fish and chips, 13 for trout.

one litre of wine and two very large pancakes with ice cream. Total 71 lira. Now lets see you do that in UK and, they have a very good library.

KOSEM by the Sultan head fountain in Fethiye

Have been to Codswallop for fish and chips on two occasions both times food was ok but nothing great.I think Morning star and Turtle bar both in Ovacik are much better and more reasonably priced.
