Title: Liverpool v Man City
Post by: desmartinson on April 13, 2014, 16:04:36 PM
Just for you Jacqui, well deserved result, great game from the two best teams in the country, Saurez does a lot of complaining and falling down. but should have had a definite penalty for the foul by Kompany in the box.

Thanks Des, Wonderful victory.  Credit to M.C. they played well in the second half.   They also respected the minutes silence perfectly.  Two great teams.    I loved to see Steve G at the end with tears in his eyes.  A great day for football.
I also have to say I was totally disgusted with the Chelsea Fans at the Swansea match who disrespected 96 innocent people who died 25 years ago. These Chelsea fans could not keep quiet for 1 minute... what a disgrace.

Chelsea will be playing their 3rd game in eight days when they visit Anfield on the 27th.

Could be a factor especially as they have to travel abroad mid week.

Jacqui I cannot agree with you more. I think today proved from the actions of Steve how passionate his love is for Liverpool. Nothing was fake is was all from inside of him. As for the ignorant Chelskie
fans. All you can say them is. One day you will be sobbing tears of grief like the ones you are mocking.
Then and only then you will feel that same pain.

Thank you so much Dave, I was so proud of my team Captain Stevie G. who let his emotion show just how much this means to him and then rallied his players and told them to focus on the next match.

I'm sitting here in my Liverpool shirt and really don't want to take it off ! Inshallah !

I agree it could . But I think with the form and confidence and sheer skill the team has at the moment there is not one team thats going to stop them at Anfield. They have the most prolific scorer in the prem yet did not need him to score today to beat city. A city team that has been favourites to win the prem from day one and was up until they met Liverpool. Remember at the start of the season lots were  saying Liverpool would not even make the top four. I wish I had bet on them at the start. What were those odds?
I'm sounding like a liverpool fan here.  :)

Yes -but it COULD have been different. If Sterling had made the right decision, on more than one occasion it would have been all over much earlier

The best team won on the day, but again the game was marred by an inept ref. I think the occasion got to him. He missed 3 penalties and how could he not send Suarez off for his dive when he had already been booked. If one player ever deserved to win a league title then it is Steve Gerrard.

Totally agree about Stevie G..He is Liverpool F.C. A wonderful player and a humble man.   However, last night on the BBC Football Programme Gary Lineker, like the other two men on the programme (two ex Liverpool players) thought Suarez had dived, but when the footage was shown again in slow motion and from another angle, it was clear Suarez's foot had been caught. They then all agreed it was not a dive.   I have to say we thought he had dived too, but it seems the Ref on that occasion made the right decision.  However, the Ref got it wrong for the second Suarez incident, it was a definite penalty.  Incidents like these happen in every match and every week.  Time for the Video Judge methinks.    ;)

I agree Mark. Suarez should not have been on the pitch when he was fouled in the area. He should have walked. Ref bottled it no doubt?

That said it makes for a great end to the season. Not sure which way it's going to go tbh.

Rubbish Jacqui! If the ref had seen him being 'caught' he should have given a free kick. He didn't so must have assumed he dived = yellow all day and he bottled it.

Have said it for 2 seasons now, and will say it again, Video Technology a must for in the penalty area, Refs just cant keep up with the speed of the game, linesmen miss more faults than ever, and don't get me started on 4th officials,  ;)

.. And the blatant handball? Only blatant when seen again in slow motion though. How far do we go with cameras?

So what you are saying is that everytime there is a suspicion of a foul inside the penalty area we stop the game. Wait for someone to look at a video in normal motion, slow motion and to be fair from every angle possibe then after 5 mins give the ref the thumbs up  or down as to what action to take. Come on that is absolutely ridiculous.I just about agree with goal line technology but thats about it for me. if they need to do anything at all to improve the game get rid of the penalty shoot outs and get rid of the corrupt Sepp Blatter.

then after 5 mins.

If you can give me one example of where it took that length of time in rugby, I'd be bloody amazed

We are talking about football here Highlander which is played by passing the ball with your feet with some might say a great deal of skill. If a ref can add on say 2 mins for every suspicious foul and stop the game. There will be about 30 mins extra time  in every match...40mins in Leeds Utds case Stoop  :)
Dont take much working out so cannot see your comparison to rugby   :)

As they are all on approx £250.000 a week, they should be prepared to play for another 8 hrs if necessary, bloody prima donnas.  ;) >:(

It's not just rugby that has video technology it's other sports too.  My husband who used to play and love rugby always says they should bring the sin bin into football rather than hand out so many cards.

If they had a sinbin Jacqui,there w.ould be nobody,left on the pitch.lol.

I think Suarez would be on the pitch because he's jumping out
Of the way of players trying to clog him,

How many people does the sin bin hold, once you've got the Ref, 2 linesmen, and the 4th official in there, cant be much room left.  ;)  :)  :)

Sorry Highlander, but a game of rugby has come to a natural stop when the technology is used. If you use it to decide if it's a penalty in football or not, where do you restart the game if it's deemed not a penalty? The ball wouldn't have been dead. Does everyone resume their position where they would have been when the tackle happened and then the ball is put on the grass again to play. Like to see that work.

A bit silly that one Strange, If the video shows it was a penalty, he blows his whistle and points to the spot, if it shows not he gives a goal kick. and also gives the necessary cards for the offence by whatever player.  :)

I have opened a new topic on video technology in football, as I feel we are slipping away from the original post I opened on the Liverpool v man city game, which was intended for the incidents in that game, I myself along with other members moved off the original topic, so perhaps our admin team could now move all replies on video tech to new topic.  :)
