It would be brilliant if there was also one down by Zakum villas. There used to be a makeshift one down by there but now there is just the pipe and I am not brave enough to try to cross on the pipe nearly did one evening last year going home after a few efes:D

Let's just hope that the torrential downpours are over, or there will be one helluva wall of mud tearing down the river. :oNice to see that the 'Strong invasion proof' tape is in position though!! : :)

Gordon there may be something in your fears, especially at this time of year.  However, there is much to commend about the use of tried and tested old fashion methods of construction, that utilise local conditions and materials to assist in Turkish Construction, such as  here.

If this was the UK this would have required three months (expensive) setup work to get to the stage of construction, here it looks like they are ready to start the rebuild within days.

Tinx thanks for the latest set of photos, I am enjoying this thread, it's like watching an episode of Grand Designs :)

UBT - I wonder "if this was the UK" would the bridge have been built to such a standard that it wouldn't have washed away in the first place.
