What I don't get is why the £ is so weak against the dollar, euro etc with the Coronavirus being blamed. All these other countries have it too, why is it us slipping?

Because our stock market has less faith in British businesses and the USD has always been the 'go to' currency in emergencies ?

I really don't know how it all works.

It's because the markets and in particular the money markets have no faith in johnson or his farcical attempts to combat the covid-19 crisis.

Surely the problem is that Johnson has neither done or not done anything. Totally rudderless ship. You shouldn't do this, but we won't stop you. Pathetic "leadership".

Turkish lira may weaken to 8 per dollar, says Japan’s largest bank. So, it could easily fall to 9 to the £.
