Has anybody taken a blackberry to Turkey, had it unlocked and registered with  turkcell for use with a Turkish sim card as you can an ordinary mobile phone? thanks.

Its too difficult to do and expensive, I was bringing one over to give to a friend who lives there and it was too expensive.

Hi There,
My brother did it last month and registered it using Candan Telecom in Fethiye. Needed new sim card of course, but didn't ask him about the cost. He didn't mention that it was particularly expensive though.

I am told that you should unlock it in the UK.I had my Blackberry with me on my last visit and put in my turkish sim card no problems. I did however bring phone back home with me.

I have a Blackberry Storm which I had unlocked in the U.K.reg. in Fethiye no problem can`t remember cost but not expensive took about 10 min.

I unlocked my Blackberry mobile phone from t-mobile network by using unlock code.
