Title: Devlet Hospital to Offer Foreigner Health Services
Post by: Scunner on December 07, 2011, 09:06:02 AM
Don't ask me, I'm just giving you the link to the Fethiye Times story  :)

The Fethiye State hospital between Akarca and Calis is to offer/already has treated 500 yabanci types - and "No doubt inspired by the clear success of the Esnaf and Letoon private hospitals, the State Hospital in the Arkaca / Çalis area of Fethiye now offers a 24/7 health services for foreigners, with English speaking 'medical translators' on the staff to facilitate access for non-Turkish speakers" according to FT

Thanks for this Keith.  I have a thread running, under this same section, informing about the Tourism Services and informing that I am co-ordinating tours of the various departments in the Devlet to any interested 'yabancis'.  From the replies I've been receiving there's a huge interest and it looks like the tours will be continuing for quite a while to come.
If anyone wishes to attend one of the tours, please PM me for more details.

Im really confused by part 2, its saying your kimlik number must start 99 to have an initial consultation for 15.5 tl, if it doesnt its 100 tl

I thought having residency/kimlik meant treatment was automatically cheaper.
Does anyone have any clarification about this?

Your number in your residence book is not your kimlik number. To get your kimlik number, once you have your little blue book, go to the Nufus Ofis in the Kaymakans building to be registered and they will give you your Yabanci Kimlik number beginning with 99...
You used to be able to do this on line but when we tried last week to do Eric's on line it said we must first register with the Nufus Ofis.
We did this and it took all of 5 mins to do it and he now has his Yabanci Kimlik number.

You can also get it online.

https://tckimlik.nvi.gov.tr/YabanciKimlikNo/DogumYiliveIkametTezkereNoSorguModul.aspx

Put in your year of birth in the first box and your Residency number in the other (in the format xx/xxxxx) then put the security number in and there you go.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but, as of today, the Devlet Hospital's Tourism Department is closed.  I'm not exactly sure why, or whether this is a permanent closure, and hope for all our sakes it's just a temporary blip as everyone agrees they have been providing an invaluable service.  As soon as I can find out more information I'll post on here.

Hope this hasnt fallen through. I recently met Erdal and his team when using the Devlet, they were really good with us . The service they provided was excellent and very helpful as most of the staff there dont speak much English.

I would imagine it would be quite difficult without an interpreter.

Hi Baz,
Me again...this time, with a query on how to get the yabanci kimlik number online.
I have a number in the blue book, top of page 4, which says it is ..bu ikamet tezkeresi. Is this the number they ask for on the online form? As this is the only number I can see in the book. This also looks like the date of application, stroke, then the date it expires' I put these numbers in but the message received is they cannot find the order requested. Also, the format you say, should be xx/xxxxx which makes no sense with the numbers in my book :-). I must be doing something wrong...so I am probably better to go to the Kaymakans office..
Cheers if you can advise..

Bunny4jeff, as I said before we could not do Eric's on line (in the last 2 weeks) and went to the Kaymakans and did it in 5 mins. I did mine on line 3 years ago so maybe the system has changed recently.

You enter your YEAR of birth in the first box, then open your residence permit (first page inside the cover) and in the centre of the page it says "IKAMET TEZKERESI" and ubder it in English "(Residence permit)" the number below that is entered in the second box, make sure you separate the first 2 numbers with a / otherwise it will not work. Then enter the security code you see in the bottom box, easy, even you should be able to do it Lance. Quicker than travelling into town to do it. And it does work as the people above who have done it can confirm!!

Lance, when you hit the magnifying glass symbol it stays on the same page, just with the information you are after below it.

The tourism department is just temporarily closed.

The department is outsourced and since the year is coming to an end, it's time for the new bidding to take place.
Companies can put in an offer and the company with the best bid gets the right to operate the tourism desk.

The expectation is - that even if a different company gets the job - the staff will be able to start working again in the new year.

Is it too much to ask to award an annual contract to someone who continues to do it during the renewal bidding process?!!

Yes, Erdal rang me this morning to say that the department is open, but the team are attending a Health Tourism training course in Izmir at the moment.  He's going to let me know when normal service is resumed.  Once they are up and running again, I'll post on here regarding recommencing the tours.  For those people who have already contacted me, I'll email you with new dates etc.  If anyone else is interested, please watch this space for news of dates.  Thanks
