Hi all. We're looking to find restaurants that will collect us from our place in Ciftlik and deliver us home. I realise that lots do it in Calis and Fethiye but I imagine it'll be more limited in Ciftlik. We already know of:
Mekan
Shaka
1881 Escape - never been there but they say they'll pick up
Kings Garden
Thanks,
Sue ;D
-
Sundial... Fethiye
Levissi Garden....Kayakoy
Went to both this month and can throughly recommend them.
-
Sue, not sure where you are in Cuftlik but the dolmus service from fethiye mosque to the ciftlik village Main Street are really good and run late. Calis not so good as they run along the top road and you have to change at the top of BMB.
Simon

Great! Thanks Jacqui. And on your birthday too! Amazing that they will pick up as far away as Ciftlik.
Simon, there's a City bus that goes from Ciftlik to Calis and back which is quite good too. I'd just been hoping for restaurants that would pick us up and, more importantly, drop us back when we want a nice night out and a couple of drinks.
Cheers both,
Sue

We've not actually been picked up for a meal before, (it's very generous and a great incentive to use specific restaurants, great for my daughter with little ones when the owner ran them home) but we love the dolmus services, can't recommend them highly enough. I wish we had similar in UK! It's only a few pence each way, and, if as Simon says you have a regular service, great! It's never been a problem for us, in fact we love always hopping on and off them. All part of the Turkey experience.
-
Yes, we'll use them quite a bit. This is really just for a treat from time to time. ;D
-
Going to book Kings Garden as its in Fethiye. Will probably get picked up then get water bus back to Calis. A few beers and taxi home.
We quite often walk along the beach into Calis or get on our bikes :)
-
The Istanbul Restaurant in Kaya also do a pick-up service as far out as Ciftlik.
-
Thanks KKOB. I'll look 'em up. Nice restaurant?
I know it must sound like we're being lazy from the various 'get the bus' comments ;D ;D ;D but the thing is that, whilst we love Ciftlik, we live up near to the canal and at the end of a long, hot day and after a meal and a few drinks a 15 minute climb up a steep hill is not particularly appealing. Most of the time we'll be taking the dolmus or the city bus and enjoying the Turkish way of doing things but once in a while a lift home is a bit of a treat. Lotty, I entirely agree. It's very generous of them. We really appreciate it.
-
Nice restaurant?
Ill give you a clue.

My Stoop you are brave, after a meal at the Kings Garden a few drinks and possible some dancing (on Saturday night) I am really ready to just jump into the transport provided and relax whilist being driven home..
-
Yes I did wonder what time Stoop envisages leaving Kings Garden, to allow all that afterwards :D
-
Maybe we will play that one by ear then ;)
-
All booked :) coming back to be decided ;)

Will be going back again next visit. Don't go too early though - it gets hot! Best to get there about one hour before sunset.
-

Yes they do. I think there is a new thread somewhere.

So does Levissi and Muzzy's place in Kaya Koy.

I have Kings Garden Stoop. I meant in general. If anyone has contact numbers for the others it would be a great reference and time saver whilst over in Calis.
-
OK - I get you :)
Lets start now then :)
Anyone got any numbers for those places that will pick us Koca-ites up?
-

i agree Anne a section on contact details and numbers would be great, after all the years I have been back and forth to Calis, it is only this year I have found out about the "free transport" offers to various restaurants, and the odd thing is I use most of these on a regular basis. I am going to try to compile a list to leave for our guests at the apartment.
-
Post it here when you do Janett ;D Save us all some time searching :P
-
I would also be keen to add a page on the highly informative and beautifully written www.fethiye.co.uk detailing restaurants that will pick you up and drop you back. It's a very busy website and I think could be a useful page for both holidaymakers and restaurateurs.
I would need telephone numbers and email addresses etc for each if you would like to help your favourites - thanks.
-
It's already a plan in action, I've have had numerous restaurants reply to inquires tonight, hopefully I will have a useable document ready shortly.

Sundial Hotel in Fethiye
http://www.sundialotel.com/
0252 611 1419
Levissi Garden in Kayakoy
http://levissigarden.com/
0252 618 0173
Istanbul Restaurant in Kayakoy
0535 275 6706
Sarnic Restaurant in Kayakoy
0252 618 0153
0554 834 1058
0533 139 8898
This one charges a token amount but it's only 10 or 15 lira depending where you are and that's for up to 10 people I think. Not per person but for all of you. Can't be bad.
There's also Kings Garden as has already been mentioned, Mekan in Koca Calis and Shaka on the Kordon. I have numbers for them but they're at my villa. I'll see if I can find them out if someone doesn't get there first.
;D

Sundial said to me yesterday when i contacted them about a pick up service, that they will only pick up for 6 people!!!
Not much help when you go out as couples:(
We wanted to go for the day so would have been spending all day there and an evening meal, seems silly to me , but there loss.
-
Oh that is a shame. I could almost understand 4 because that's relatively easy to organise but 6! That's too many. Ah well, we were going to try them next time. :(

Yes, it can be a bit frustrating, they will pick up less than 6, but only if they have other bookings for around the same time. For the same reason you quite often have to hang around for the return transfer, as like the pick up service they want to maximise the numbers of people on the transfer. Can't blame them I suppose, considering the cost of fuel.
-
Why is it that there is so much interest in "free" pick-ups when taxis are so reasonable and convenient ? What am I missing here?
-
The fact that taxis are neither reasonable or convenient? Fethiye and back twice is how much these days? And Kaya?
-

You obviously don't get many taxis or have lots of money! Taxi from Koca Calis to Calis is around 20-25 ytl in normal times. After midnight it's more! Not too bad if there's 4 of you but pricey for a couple. Adds about 40-50 ytl to your bill for the night.
-
Fair play but maybe the real reason is that nobody falls foul of the drink and drive problem. However I'd be a bit chary of some of the owners and staff getting me home unscathed !
-
How much would Koca Calis to Kaya be Stoop - twice, once probably midnight or later. If Calis is 50TL, I'd say 200+? 65 quid or more and you haven't even ordered an Efes yet - it's going to be a bloody expensive night.
-

A taxi to and from The Sundial/Calis is going to cost around 80TL if you have a free pick up that's quite a discount on the cost of your meal.
-
Surely you can get more than one person into a taxi..... ?
-
As I said - 4 of you and it doesnt seem so bad but even then 50ytl is a few beers on the house! Might even get the wife a G&T ;)
-
Surely you can get more than one person into a taxi..... ?
Why would you, the restaurant you are going to will pick you up and drop you home for nothing :D
-
Quite right - in an ideal world. What's your stance on free lunches ?
-
Businesses have lots of competition and sometimes have to offer that little extra to get your custom. I can honestly say that the free pick up and drop off we got from Kings Garden was excellent. The owners have more than likely priced this into their costs yet the food prices were very reasonable and the quality was excellent.
-

You do have to pay for your meals when you get there Scorcher. If you would rather go to another one and pay for a taxi, it's a free world not free lunches.
-
can we have an updated list please x
-
Do you know - I'm almost convinced ! Once I've had a quick shufti at the relevant passenger carrying insurance papers, satisfied that our philanthropic restaurateur of whatever nationality is not tempted to massage the bill in any shape or form and the dedicated fully qualified driver chosen for his love of just the odd wine gum - well I'm having second thoughts. In principle it would seem beneficial to all parties. However, in the light of some of the aforementioned concerns not being fully met, I will stick to self drive or licensed taxi to get me safely home for MOTD. In the end of course it is a matter of personal choice. And where's Supacabby when you need him ?
-
Good points but tell me - if your friend offers you a free lift are you covered under his car insurance? The answer is yes unless he takes payment - then you have issues.
So if a restaurant owner picks you up for free then what is the difference? I suppose you could argue that he's doing it for personal gain but there is no obligation to buy a meal once you get to the restaurant is there? After all you might not like the menu. Might bugger up your lift home though ;)
If the owner uses a mini bus with his restaurant name all over the sides then my money is on him having the correct insurance otherwise he could easily get stopped and be in trouble I would think.
-
Yes and we should never cross the road because cars use them.
I remember the days when complete strangers in Turkey would stop and beckon you into their car if you looked like you were waiting for a dolmus. If insurance is paramount in you mind on holiday I'd suggest Turkey isn't always the best option :D
-
Too true but managed to cope so far and let's pray that circumstances prove that I'm fussing without cause !
-
I must remember to smell the taxi driver's/dolmus driver's breath next time I hop in one ;)
-
Eugh!

I remember the days when complete strangers used to do that to me here... Always men for some reason. hehe
