Has anybody had their lenses replaced at the Esnaf, and if so can you give me any info? What it entails, price, aftercare etc. I have been to Dunya Goz in Antalya hoping for laser treatment but they tell me I need my lenses replaced and have quoted over 6000 euro, about 18000 tl !

I had cataracts done in April
New imported lenses etc.
Cost 400 pounds per eye
Basically no problems

I had a detached retina op and replacement lens at Akdeniz University Hospital a couple of years ago.. Cost for the whole treatment was only 5000 Lira so those prices seems extremely high.

Ive been to the Esnaf today and been quoted 1700tl for each eye for lens replacement. I asked what quality of lens they use, worried that it might be inferior to Dunya Goz, but I have been assured they use Alcon top quality lenses, and probably the same as Dunya Goz. Well, 3400 tl as opposed to over 20,000 tl quoted by Dunya Goz, it's a no brainer. I get my first one done next Friday

Hope it all goes well susiepink :)

Me too, it's something I might consider too. Hope all goes well Susie. :)

Well, it's all over and done with now, and although a very unpleasant operation I am delighted with the results. I can't praise the Esnaf, Dr Cengis and his staff enough, they were always so helpful and polite. A different experience entirely to when I had to attend the Devlet in Fethiye, and then the University hospital in Anyalya last summer, when I was treated like a second class citizen, most of the staff there were downright rude and unhelpful. I can recommend the Esnaf and the operation to anyone thinking of having it done

Susie did you have the operation for 'medical' reasons, such as cataracs, or was it as an alternative to glasses/contact lenses? If the latter was it for long or short sightedness?

Well done Susie

All the best, Sue. Let us know how you get on.

I hadn't got cataracts, it was purely because I was fed up of wearing specs, but a bonus is that I now won't get cataracts. I used to wear varifocals, and I was long sighted, my vision is now fantastic, I am very pleased.

Glad it was a great success, something to bear in mind as I too am long sighted but can't wear variofocals easily. I'm constantly juggling between glasses (at home) but especially in supermarkets! I must look peculiar with one pair on my head and one on my nose! :D
