Title: Paying for your VPN or DNS just got harder
Post by: JohnF on February 07, 2016, 12:22:16 PM
Looks like the folks who don't like you "un-geolocking content" (e.g. watching iPlayer outside UK etc) or streaming TV shows and movies have convinced PayPal that by allowing payments to be made for private VPN and DNS services they may be encouraging copyright infringement.

Not sure if anyone on here uses the companies that so far have been told by PayPal that they are violating PayPals "terms of service".  I suspect you'll have already received an email asking for credit card details if you do.

Maybe it's just be my inbuilt paranoia about handing over CC details to some company that is effectively (and knowingly) allowing me to break the law by using their service, but I always feel happier using PayPal to pay for VPNs etc.

It looks like PayPal are initially targeting those companies that market themselves as "unblockers", so if you use one of these companies have a plan B in place if you don't want your fix of Eastenders or Corrie interrupted.
