Big Upgrade For Road to Seafront
« on: November 19, 2007, 17:11:43 PM »
Work will start soon on a major upgrade on the road from the Dolphin roundabout to the water taxi bridge in Calis.

The general 'mishmash' of shop, office and bar fronts will soon be flattened (including ours!) and a new design and theme will be followed down both sides.

The road itself will be block paved and pedestrianised (yes, I hope that means scooter & motorbike free too) during the season.

Looks like we will be losing the front part of our office, so we'll be selling cream leather chairs  ;) - but it is a major upgrade project that should be excellent for Calis - in one of it's most important streets.

All will be ready for next season. Please, I am the messenger :D

Why do we feel the need to change places we fall in love with?

I agree - it is scruffy and will definitely be an improvement.  I for one am delighted.  I am always conscious of seeing elderly people with wheelchairs, walking frames etc, and mothers with pushchairs struggling along pavements or just going in the road and risking life and limb.  Well done whoever is responsible!

Thank you Anne, I too like scruffy, it has character as it is and when it is all 'modified' will it may become soleless?
You can improve roads and pavments without changing the fascias.

Good one Stoop.
It's the pedestrian part that needs doing, or soon someone will fall through it.

:( That will be the start of the New Calis :(

:) I like it's individuality, it's quirks & knobbly bits  :) That's all part of what makes it so endearing  :)

It's changed immensely over the past 2/3 years, it's charm & character, will soon be another distant memory :(
