Gas Bottle Refills
« on: January 11, 2008, 07:44:40 AM »
We bought a gas heater from the Aygaz shop in Gunlukbasi in September and will probably need a refill bottle when we return in March. Can I get any refill or does it need to be Aygaz?

The reason I ask is I also have a water cooler and when I went to get a refill at one of the dealers on the back road near the fire station he refused to accept the empty as it wasn't his brand!

I now use the place opposite Migros for water refills - he also does gas - but not Aygaz - should he take my Aygaz in exchange for a refill?

You generally have to return Aygaz empties to an Aygaz supplier.

Although I've changed Aygaz empties at a Lipetgaz agent in the past for a 2 YTL fee.

Aygaz and the other main turkish brand Ipragas have the same regulators so should be ok. BP gas however uses the newer snap on type regulator so not compatible. If you can get a turkish speaker to order it and have it delivered they will set you up with an account number so next time you need a refil you can call them and quote your number and have it delivered. A lot easier than lugging gas bottles back and fore  :)

Thanks for replies - if the place opposite Migros is Aygaz or Ipragaz I will stay there as he has issued me with a number although I have always called in a hire car to collect the water.

If not it looks like I should find my nearest Aygaz shop and get the water from there as well?

Am I right in saying refills for gas are about 35 ytl? We had our heater on virtually every day for a week at Christmas on a low light from 4pm until 10am the next morning and it was still going strong when we left but must be close to empty now - still excellent value!

I think they've increased the price to around 40 something YTL

We get ours from "Avsar Ticaret" - somewhere in Fethiye - never been so don't know where. When it's empty we phone up with our number (they give it to you on your first order) and 5 minutes later a man appears on a moped and swaps the bottles. Cost 44YTL.
