Where abouts is Izmit
« on: March 20, 2008, 20:56:51 PM »
Just watching a programme about earthquakes (and I know I should not be!)Turkey has been mentioned, they are talking about a fault line and reckon there will be a big one in Istanbul in the future!
Was wondering where Izmit is in relation to Calis.
I am scared now wish I had not watched it.

About 10-12 hours drive away, scene of the 1999 earthquake where 10,000 lost their lives.

Oh is that why the programme said they think there will be  another one in Istanbul.
I had better look for that earthquake link and prepare an emergency pack for when I am out in two weeks time!
Derek told me not to watch it, but I knew best!

:) It's in 'Kismet' Karen, literally  :)  Don't worry yourself so much over what may or may not happen, if it's going to happen it will, wherever you are, whatever you're doing [8)]

I know Cef I gotta try not to worry so much I knew I should not have watched it! The funny thing is when I bought my apartment I did not really give the earthquakes much thought, and I even laughed when I was out in October because apparantly on our complex there is an earthquake shelter and my friend I was with asked where it was and I said oh dont worry about that we wont need it and its always locked!
I was a little aineberated at the time so it seemed funny.

I really don't have a lot of room to talk Karen, I'm the original 'worry wart'  8)

'Some' things are meant to be, some are Not [8)]

On the positive side... at least you 'Have' an Earthquake Shelter  8) ;)

Apparantly it is where the gardeners store all their stuff and the sunbeds etc out of season, and it doubles up as an earthquake shelter, so someone on the complex told Derek, but it is always locked so it would not be any good anyway!
Me too am a worry wort it is a nightmare sometimes.
Hope you are making some headway with your property problems.
