Out of interest has anyone seen any baby tortoise this year?  I mean the really little ones around 1-2" long.  I normally see a few walking the dog but not this year.

Saw a lot of baby tortoises in the Ovacik area about a month ago but none recently.

I have seen some shops selling them too.

Very determined little creatures, Scunner!! Dog is terrified!
Hope shops aren't selling them, they are 'protected' and not allowed to be kept as pets

We saw one in June.  We had to stop the car as it was walking across the road by the cemetery.
We have been told by a local that Owls pick up the babies and drop them from a great height to break their shells so they can eat them!!!
