FTC flight 4583
« on: June 24, 2012, 17:38:08 PM »
Any other members on this flight from dalaman that should have left at 2.05am 22/6.....?
We got to the airport at 11.30pm,nice easy check-in,even the passport control bloke was smiling!Went along to the gate, waited, everything seemed normal. Then 2.00am came and nothing happening,we could see the plane,2.30am still nothing. An hour or two later steward comes through to say there's a problem with the computer(error light)and they were trying to sort it.At about 6am we were told we would be taken to a hotel, and to await further updates.Went to dalaman airport resort hotel and were given rooms.Breakfast provided,Turkish style. We were then told next update was at 3.00pm,but we had to vacate rooms at 2.30pm.
Update was that engineer was on the manchester flight arriving at 3.30pm to try and fix it.Next update 6.00pm was that they think it will be ok,waiting for confirmation, and we should be leaving by coach at at around 8.00pm.We were told there would be 4-6 check-in desks open to allow us to go through quickly and go straight through and board asap.Got there and 231 people were queuing with no desks open. Finally left at 11.30pm.
We were lied to,mis-informed,airside couldnt communicate with landside, and as you could imagine people with kids were getting desperate. Our 1st flight with them, and the last.

Horrendous, and I thought Brenda had a nightmare journey home.

Would it not make more sense for FTC to have trained Engineers at major International Airports or would that just not be economical.

H,They had turkish airlines engineers have a go at fixing it who were trained on that particular boeing plane. There was no garantee that the engineer that flew in from mancs could fix it,but still didnt send another plane just in case he couldnt,so that would have meant prob another 6hrs at least. No back-plan at all.
