On Turkish Tides - Update on our Kayakers
« on: September 20, 2016, 03:21:02 AM »
'On Turkish Tides'
On Friday we met up with Sam & Doğan at Büyük Çalık Plajı (Big Pebble Beach) in Kaş.
We met up with Dean Livesley who has many years experience kayaking in these waters.
Here they are checking out the weather on Poseidon
http://www.sevencapes.com/ — at Büyük Çatıl Plajı - Kaş.
Here are a few photographs from the day
Since we left Sam & Doğan leaving Büyük Çakıl Plajı on Friday they have been caught out on the water in a storm, stopped off at Kalkan to be interviewed by Kalkan News and are now at Patara Beach.
Here they will take a layover day before tackling the final part of the journey, kayaking below the towering cliffs of the Sevencapes, which stretch from Patara to Gemiler, near Ölüdeniz
Please sponsor Sam & Doğan in this tremendous effort by making a donation to FIG.
Details of how to make a donation can be found at the top of the page.
Thank you

If you ever go to Büyük Calık Plajı in Kaş, pop in and see Dede at Ömür Beach Restaurant. He told us he is aways there so you won't miss him.
27 years ago Dede opened the first snack bar on the beach serving mainly drinks. Back in those days there was no electricity and hardly any amenities however he persevered and is still there today.
The beach is a lot busier these days and there are now six restaurants there however if you want a no frills, relaxing day with a truly hospitable host and great food, this is the place to go.
Chicken şiş and salad was delicious..
Dede runs the restaurant with his brother-in-law, Ramazan.
