Perhaps you might consider putting a warning post on a "sticky" Scunner. I'm sure lots of tourists, even ones familiar with Turkey, could be ripped off this coming season.

Turkish Visa Sites
« Reply #13 on: January 27, 2014, 15:51:53 PM »
Be very careful to only use the official Turkey website for visas at :-

https://www.evisa.gov.tr/en

It wont be long before others start to appear with a similar web address

From other experiences if you put "USA Visa" into your web browser some 200 plus 3rd party sites are listed charging anything up to UK£100 per person instead of official USA Government site charging US$14 (about £11-50p).

Additional 3rd party sites springing up over the last 12 months are charging for UK Passports / EHIC & other normally free services it was only time before 3rd party sites would start with Turkish Visas.

The other thing is not just the "Visa Fee" but also the "Card" or "Processing Fee" they charge on top as well.

Comes down to don't believe your web browser every time!

It's too late for Ray1951's friends I guess but if anyone makes the same mistake, the "alternative" website will allow cancellation if requested within 24 hours (or so they claim):

"Contact details for refund requests ONLY:

If you wish to exercise your right to cancel, please contact us in writing (email is best), as follows:

We are more than happy to issue a refund, but we can only issue refunds direct to your bank account. Please supply the following information:

Bank Account Number
Sort Code
Order ID

This information MUST be sent by email to: refunds@evisa.eu.com

The remittance from evisa.eu.com will be credited to your bank account within 24 hours of receipt of your request."

Of course we should point out that the bogus site is offering a service. All you have to do is submit the required information to them, pay your £55 fee, and they will email your e-visa. This so much so more convenient than having to go to the Turkish Government site, where you have to submit the required information, pay your $20 (approx £12) fee, and they will email your e-visa.

But I now see the bogus site is no longer top of Google search replies for "Turkey tourist visa". Surely CBF influence can't be that fast? Even if it is 36 hours into the future.

I'm sure the site would say it is not bogus, and that it explains in several places that it is not the official site, it is not associated with the Turkish Government, it shows it's fee next to the official fee - and also links directly to the official site.

But it doesn't half look official...

It does say it is not the Official site prominently now. But I don't recall it doing that a few weeks ago when I first went on there. I don't remember it being £55 either - more like £20 (in dollars). Perhaps the more "honest" you are with your site information the more you can charge?
