Title: Cancelling Digiturk
Post by: anna-marie01 on January 21, 2012, 14:14:04 PM
Can anyone enlighten me on the best way to cancel my subscription with Digiturk? My yearly subscription comes to an end at the beginning of March, so can I just cancel then or do I have to give a notice period? I currently pay by d/d each month.

you have to give them notice and return the box and attachments and make sure you get confirmation of cancelation

When you give notice tell them that you're leaving the country. Then they won't try to persuade you to continue with your contract.

I've had Digiturk for over 3 years, d/d comes out early each month. I went to cancel mine this week, I was told they would cancel d/d, but of course will cancel it myself if I need to. They told me to bring the box back to the shop on Feb 1st, as that is when my subscription will end. I also told them I was returning to the uk, then again, I shall be quite soon.

I discontinued my subscription that ended on January 3rd. They wanted me to send a fax to "0212 4739999" and attach a fotocopy of my ID. I sent the fax on December 7th from the post-office opposite Isbank in Fethiye center.

Then they called me back for confirmation and different people called me several times back later trying to convince me to cancel my cancellation.

I delivered the receiver and the digital card to the shop in Fethiye on January 3rd and got a delivery document ( which I will keep for a while ). No problem so far...

I did mine today at AdaDigital in Fethiye (almost last shop on the 1 way before it becomes 2 way on main seafront road - along from Burger King on same side). They take the d/d payments on the 16th of each month so if you go in around then on the month before you leave you can cancel with 1 months notice.

You need your passport.

Could anyone tell me if you have to pay cancellation fee for cancelling digiturk. We have been with them for over 10 years and we want to cancel our subscription but they're trying to bill us for 208 Lira purely for cancelling.I remember someone on the forum had the same problem a few years ago. Hope someone can help me as the box has to be returned on the 3rd feb.I pay my bill monthly through the post office so they have no access to my account.

If you have not joined a campaign that will end beyond your intended cancellation time , you should not have to pay anything.

So check if you have signed any aggreement or joined a campaign by phone.

Try to get any explanation how they calculated the sum they demand from you.

You usually have to hand back in the decoder box, scart lead and remote. You can how ever insist that they come and pick it up as it is their property and they can not refuse. I have told them before that I dont have time to trek across continents (Istanbul) to deliver their own equipment when they delivered it themselves.
After all, when you rent a TV or other stuff in other countries, they come and collect and not you.
