Title: It's very busy here now
Post by: usedbustickets on July 06, 2016, 09:16:17 AM
I expected it t be busy for the next week or two following the end of Ramadan, with usual amount of heavy traffic,  traffic jams along the routes to resorts, inconsiderate and downright dangerous drivers from out of town, and busy beaches.  But I don't think I have seen anything as busy as Fethiye and the surrounding areas have been, both day and night, in the last couple of days.  We took a friend back to Caragzola last night at around 11 o'clock, the town was heaving with Turkish holiday makers, and many of the shops were open too.  However, the journey to Caragozla from the market and back out to the Korden took over twenty minutes.  Just sheer volume of traffic combined with treble parking and of course the fuss you get when Turks try to park!!

How was things on Calis Beach Prom.?  Going there tonight so any info is me forewarned!!

Looks busy even with the unused sunbeds!!  That probably means this evening the Prom is going to be full of Promenaders going up and down, I'd better get in early for a seat where I want to go.

We went to Bella Mamas last night, lovely meal and nearly all the tables full,
And it was realy nice to see lots of people strolling up the sea front again,
And enjoying themselves on holiday.

Should have said that local businesses are making hay whilst the sun shines.  Local panysion hotels have new signs up in which the room rate has gone up from 40tl to 80tl a night.

I had a car pull up at my house and ask if I had rooms available for the next week.  :D

I have been told that Hisaronu and Ovacik and Olu rooms are all full.

I wont be venturing down the hill into Hisaronu or Olu until after Bayram - I remember the previous two years when going to the local Migros turned into a full on expedition. I don't know if, as in previous years, the jandarma have been stopping private cars going into Olu at the top of the hill.

Seen a few cars pulled over to the side of the road on the hill into Ovacik with steaming engines and can most definitely vouch for the insane driving of the out of towners on my trip to Fethiye today.

But the resorts are busy and the tills are ringing - all great news for the area.

I love Olu when It's buzzing. Always had a soft spot for it since first visiting 30 years ago, when it truly was a corner of paradise

Really enjoying reading these posts. Nice to hear the resorts are busy and hope it's not just for Bayram. The school holidays approaching so hopefully everywhere will be steady the next few months. I'm still promoting   ;)

Let's hope they spend their hard earned liras, it won't help the businesses if they don't  :)

Yep! It happens every year when it's Bayram....

Exactly.  The fact it's essentially a nine day bayram this year has meant most resorts along the coast are bursting at the seams.  Unfortunately, as any restaurant or bar owner will tell you, Turkish tourists aren't renowned for parting with lots of lira.

Maybe now the Scottish schools are out and the English schools out shortly the area will get a bit of a boost - I've said it before, this area will not suffer as much as those along coast in both directions.  The high number of "returners" and those who own property in the area will still most likely come, what will be missing is the "first timers" and "cheap sun chasers".  The effect of them being missing will most likely be felt in years to come.

There are complaints  on T.A   saying that Calis is very busy, but there is rubbish lying on the beach and on the road behind the prom. Apparently people may be wild camping on some grassy area.
I hope the rubbish gets cleaned up.  It is not good to see these comments on T.A. It will put people off from visitiing.

These are the two comments.......

Arrived yesterday and it seems much busier than last year. We have been coming four years running now. Also iv noticed so much more litter on seafront than last year and the back road behind prom is awful. Such a shame as a lovely place. Had a nice meal in the lettoon hotel restaurant. Prces seem much the same as last year really effes is 8-10 tl a lrg bottle

Yes i guessed it was the turkish holidays. Such a pity about the litter.also do i see people camping wild in the grass car park. ?

Wow I honestly could not believe the beach on Monday it was soooo busy, it was great to see though I did notice a lot of folk were not paying for the sunbeds and brollies ( which have gone up to 7 tl per item) they brought their own brollies and laid on towels, which when I woke from a lovely snooze I had two men plonked down on my left side and an older TUrkish lady with either her teenage daughter/ granddaughter at my feet!

Not sure about other business, but I am sure sunflower seed sellers make really good business  :)

Went to the Veral to eat last night, and as was expected the promenade was busy - but not as busy as I have seen it at other time - with mainly Turkish holiday makers.  As you would expect lots of tea being drunk, but I am not sure that many of the bars and restaurants are going to get rich from these holiday makers - as welcome as it is.

Yes there is a lot of camping, either in cars or in tents going on the beach road, especially near the car park.  I suspect that migt have something to do with the availability of the 'public' toilets there.

The main car park in Calis was virtually full at 11am today, maybe 20 cars on the waste ground opposite & the road behind the hotel fairly full too.

Couldn't see any free sunbeds from the prom by the Lighthouse.
