Hi Old Dave and Young Ann, welcome to the forum.

I'm young enough to be your brother, and my wife Tricia is old enough to be your sister  ;) we have bought an apartment in Fethiye, and we cannot wait until we have the oportunity to retire and wave goodbye to Blighty

Thanks again for the welcome & information.
If I said that we were looking for a place to live that would be peaceful but with the opportunity to socialise, eat out, have a drink, be near the sea, have access to boats & nice walks would you say that Calis Beach could be right for us?
We have holidayed in Olu Deniz loads of times & def prefer there to the centre of Hisaranu for eg. (except for shopping).
I have a house to sell in UK with approx 120k equity & a small company pension.
I am a total sun & sea worshipper. Any advice gratefully received.
Dave
PS. can someone tell me if I can have replies come as e-mails or just an e-mail to say there are new msgs on the thread? Cheers

If you specifically ask for a reply to a Question by email people can respond in that way via your Forum profile. Generally though responses tend to be via the open Forum.
Calis could tick your boxes but so could many other places. We don't all see the same thing when we look at the same place so you really need to spend some time looking for yourself. :)

We have recurring thoughts to move to Fethiye/ Calis Beach area. I am 59 & wonder about moving to Turkey on retiral, hopefully in the not too distant future. Ann is a bit younger than me so not sure if she would want to carry on working if we move to Turkey.
Anyway....thats our brief story....just thought it best to introduce ourselves.
Cheers

dave & ann, What's to think about? It's easy, just shut your eyes/hold hands & jump, then don't look back. We're coming to Calis in 2 weeks time on a one way ticket...never been to that part of the world before, don't care...we're going to make it our new home, no worries. We 'jumped'10 years ago.
Warm welcome from a fellow newby  8)

Hi welcome to the forum.  Life is far too short - go for it! I turned 40 this year and have had the most dreadful year with ill health.  Came to Calis for the first time with my family and fell in love with it so much that we decided to buy a property which has all gone throgh.  We are not in a position to retire at all but I would so love to be completely rash and just sell up and move to Turkey and be done with it! THis forum will definitely help you with the serious stuff but you will have a good giggle along the way! Barbara x

Hi Dave & Ann, Welcome to CBF. We used this site for about 2 years gleening useful info before we moved here in Sept last year. We have no regrets about moving here and are enjoying a very laid back lifestyle, brill weather most of the year, nice people - most of the time. We live at Tasyaka, an easy bus ride to Fethiye or Olu Deniz and we spend a fair bit of time in Calis, only you can say which area is right for you - have a good look around and take your pick, everywhere has something going for it. Come and enjoy the best years of your life. Best wishes to you both. Glo

Thanks again to all who replied. I am going to be doing some serious thinking about "the big move". The thing is that when I first visited Turkey (Olu Deniz) in 1995 I didn't want toi leave at the end of the holiday, I thought "I think I belong here" & each time we visit Turkey it kinda feels like "going home".
Do you think I may have caught the "I love Turkey" bug?
Cheers,
Dave

I think you may have caught it Dave, but i don't think it's a bug, more of a spider, and it's spinning it's web worldwide now. Alan
