Title: Turkish honey

on previous holidays, mostly further north, every where you went you would see beehives. thousands of them. you could buy this honey from stalls in either jars or large flat tins. is it as available in the calis/fethiye areas. serefe.

Im not sure where they got it from exactly,but our hotel in Olu last year had delicious local honey available for brekkies every morning.I asked if it was local and they asured me it was from "down the road".

thanks glenn66, always look forward to honey on turkish holidays. hoping calis has a decent bakery. must have crusty bread,honey and fruit.it's a struggle,but someone has to do it. only 336 hours left before the eagle lands.

There are thousands of hives in the Fethiye area. There's a Honey Producer's Co-operative. If you want to support local apiarists, buy your honey at the Tuesday, Friday or Saturday markets or from the Co-op's shop on the back-road out of Fethiye.

Hi BigFella !  Yes, hundreds of beehives line the roads Fethiye to uzumlu and also Fethiye to Olu.  Very productive they are too !   There is a Honey shop in Fethiye - on the way to Pasar Kebab, and they will let you taste all sorts of honey, from different areas, so you can chose the one you like the best.    mmmmmmmmmm.

 :)Yes Pookie, been to that shop in Fethiye, and they have all different kinds of honey,someone gave us some honey last year which was supposed to be one of the best, but I could'nt eat it as it had a bees wing in and was still on the combe,:P

be careful i have actually seen them in one of the shops mixing sugar to the honey presumably to bulk it out...
