Title: Custom made furniture.
Post by: screwdriver01 on June 23, 2004, 19:49:15 PM
We're trying to find the whereabouts of the woodman/carpenter who makes distressed looking pine furniture. It feels rough to the touch and is like the Ottoman style. We spotted the furniture when looking around a villa for sale in Hisaronu. We didn't buy the villa but loved the furniture! We believe he has a catalogue and works somewhere in Fethiye. Could anyone out there help us out?

Hi
I'm going to Fethiye the 2nd week in Feb to source items for a villa due for completion in May. This distressed furniture sounds like just what I'm looking for - what sort of items do these guys make and what sort of delivery times are we talking. Also does anyone know where I can get hold of leather covered dining chairs and sofas in the Fethiye region please?

We got our bedroom and lounge furniture from a carpenter in the Fethiye Sanayi who have a guy who speaks perfect English. They make to a very high quality (we think so anyway!!) and we were very happy with what we paid.
They will also pick you up and drop you back at home.
Match that MFI!!!!!!

Think we used the same guy for our furniture for our villa in Uzumlu. Factory is very difficult to find but Pete, the salesman, picked us up at our hotel and we spent the whole afternoon at the factory at Fethiye designing our furniture. We chose chestnut wood throughout and everything was made to measure, and we are sooooo pleased with what we finished up with.
It was nice to speak with someone English who understood what we wanted and who could translate for us.
The furniture was delivered exactly on time and was perfect. Thanks youla

This sounds really promising as our room sizes are much smaller than we first thought, we will need to get all wardrobes hand made as doors can only be 35 cm wide if they are to open! Also do these guys make basic bed frames to hold standard matresses. Could you also give clear instructions of how to get hold of these craftsmen please or a phone number would be really helpful. Don't understand what is meant by 'Sanayi' is it a shop name or region - sorry to be dense!

One of the villas we looked around had custom made wroght iron headboards made locally, does anyone have any experience of local craftsmen doing a similar job for them?

Hi Jax you can get standard bed frames made at any of the carpenters all of our beds were made and we just bought the mattresses.  Eren Spot has a good selection of mattresses at reasonable prices.  There is also a lovely wrought iron shop on the main road from Fethiye they sell everything from wine racks to head boards I do not know if they are expensive but the quality looks superb and they have some really unusual designs, alternatively you could probably get something custom made.

we need to furnish two bedrooms and need wardrobes, dressing tables etc

We had all our furniture, beds, wardrobes, settee, dining table, chairs etc.. hand made in Siberian pine by:
Yola Dekarasyon,
Yeni Sanayi Sitesi,268.Sk.No:1 48300 Fethiye

Quality and finish is great at an affordable price. It was a 'shopper' from Nicholas that took us there Jan 2004 and we went back last week to order further items.

like the people you originally responded to we are going out to our new house in Calis at the end of June for a week and will need to buy all furniture asap (preferably readymade or very quickly made)so that we don't spend all week chasing round shops with our two young boys (4 and 6 - as you can imagine, their priorities are not whether we have a table to eat off - rather, is there water in the pool and where can they catch some fish!!).  We want to go home having fully furnished our house so that we can try and rent it out soon after.  Is feru reasonable, and does he have some stock ready to go (it sounds as if he does?). Also is he contactable by e-mail so that we can maybe get some pictures brochures before we  go and perhaps even order beforehand?).
