Title: Traffic violation and i wasnt even in the country
Post by: fethiye2003 on February 24, 2011, 13:26:27 PM
someone used my motorcycle without my permission whilst i was in england
i have just received a 350tl fine and after going to the traffic police to prove it was not me they said i would have to pay the fine
Another case of the guilty being let off and the yabanci paying
I feel i have a good case to take matters further but i am afraid i will be penalised further for something i did not do

if i was to take a trafick policemans car and commit a trafick violation would the trafic policeman have to pay for the trafic violation
this is outragious
so why should i pay for something that someone else did
is it any wonder the yabanci feels persecuted

Okay just tell them who used your motorcycle without your permission and they will be liable. If you dont tell them its only right that you are liable its the same in the UK - your bike = your responsibility

It is exactly the same in the UK.  If your car is clocked on a speed camera the fine falls on the registered owner unless they can prove it was some one else driving and name that person.  If some one used your bike without your permission you should report that fact with name and address.  What would you have done if this had happened in your home town in the UK while you were in Turkey on holiday?

and to your reply eric this did happen to me in the uk and the police did not proceed as i proved i was in hospital at the time of the speeding offence

In that case may I suggest you employ a solicitor, take them with you and make a formal complaint.

My smiley at the end is not pleasure at your misfortune, it is my amusement at the fact you have such a negative opinion of your hosts and how you are treated as a foreigner, yet you stay.

If you know who used your motorcycle without your permission why don't you get the money for the fine from them?

You have pretty much answered your own original question. This is precisely why you must pay. So much for your "Another case of the guilty being let off and the yabanci paying" opinion eh, what with it being you who is letting the "guilty" off...

Not at all, I will leave you here and let people decide for themselves. Our views are so far apart that without doubt one of us must be a total idiot. I'm not saying it's you. I'd be amazed if it is me though, I must be honest.

What truth hurts? I haven't read any truth in anything you have said - you said British people like you are being pursued as a foreigner in Turkey as the authorities prefer that, and protect Turkish people. But that isn't what happened at all is it? It's your distorted paranoid view of expat life in Turkey, and you are entitled to your views - even if they are entirely warped!

I could be wrong But I was always told that the owner of the vehicle is responsible for any fines etc here in Turkey, regardless of whom is driving. So as suggested, the only thing you can do is to ask nicely, to whoever incurred the fine, to pay up

Fethiye2003 I have read many of the comments on various subjects and I am convinced it is not Scunner that is winding you up it is yourself. I do think you could do with anger management counselling. It sounds as if you think the whole world is against you.

I would suggest to you is take a deep breath and look around. You are in one of the most beautiful parts of the world and just enjoy it.

I agree with Scunner in that if you think it is a corrupt society and that the Turkish authorities are persecuting you then you should leave. All that will happen with this fine is that it will increase with penalties for non payment being applied.

Before you start, I am not one of Scunner's lackies. Scunner and myself have had a few heated discussions over time and I would not think twice of telling him that I disagree with him.

And never once was the thought of a ban even contemplated! I love a discussion/arguement/row as much as (probably more than) the next man and I do want people who disagree with my (rarely mellow) views to stand their ground and we can all have a good ruck and finish off by shaking hands and going for a pint. It is one of my greatest frustrations about myself that I find debating more and more difficult when the intellect of the opposition is poor, as it was here. Nobody has to tell me about the difficulties and negatives of life in Turkey - I was removed from my own business at gunpoint for Christ's sake - but I cannot say nothing when people bend stories to show anti-British racism by the authorities as was the case here. Similarly, the stories about how British owners had to pay the recent road tax and it was higher because Turks didn't have to pay it - there is a sinister and wholly fabricated ex-pat agenda in place and to my mind far too many ex-pats far too ready to take any old gossip as gospel. Once again, that was totally untrue too.

I don't stop anyone having a view and sharing it, but where the truth is cast to one side I will try to expose the bigotry. There is no simpler scenario - if you truly believe you are being victimised then you must get out - but none of them do, they prefer to stay and suffer - I don't think so.

Please also try to accept that I do know what I am doing, as do the team of moderators. People like Ovacikpeedoff find they have a different view to me (or others) and we disagree and get on with it, in almost adult fashion (!). People like Fethiye2003 set off the alarm bells within 30 seconds of making their first post - even when there is nothing obviously aggressive or antagonistic in that first post at all - there is a sixth sense that all of the team can get that something isn't quite right - they came to cause problems and we just sit back watching the grenade, waiting for the moment when it goes off.

These people are not CBF compatible and are here to try to spoil it for all of us. They won't.

Lecture over, cheers.

Well

You are missing the fact that he can't answer you anymore :D

That's the point exactly though - he knows who it is and knows they won't/can't pay, so twists it into an anti-British victimisation claim. It's nothing of the sort - either he pays or the guy who opens his tins of Whiskas pays - there is no institutional racism against the British in this story after all. Unsurprisingly.

Surely, anyone who lives here knows, anyone using their vehicle and does something wrong, then the owner of said vehicle is liable, one of the first things you learn.  I had an English friend look after my animals for 2 months while I,ve been in Nepal and India, and even though I trust him, still put keys of car and scooter in safe, so noone could use them.  Better to be safe than sorry, you,ll just have to pay and put it down to experience

The fine is registered to the vehicle no matter who may be driving it. This rule applies to everyone, no matter if they come from UK, Turkey or Uranus. This "picking on the yabancis" comment is ridiculous and stupid. I have been living here a lot longer than most people here and I have never come across this mysterious yabanci tax or bills etc.
