hi all, going to calis in a little over 3 weeks time, my wife will be having her birthday there and was hoping for a few tips for a nice place to take her for dinner, we are not into flashy big expensive types, just somewhere nice and romantic with good food, thanks ;)
-
SunDial Fethiye - go before sunset!
-
I would reccomend the Sat restaurant at the end of the prom, we have been there recently and the food and service was excellent and its in a lovely position.
-
Sat is indeed a great location, first time in a while I've heard that the food is good - so that's good news. Saraphane Wine House in the ATA Hotel in Karagozler is amazing.
-
hillside is spot on with Sundial and the prices not too fierce. As also mentioned, Sat is well placed if the weather is kind. Enjoy either !!
-
Izela in Kaya Koy,fabtastic food great hosts and in my opion far better than the Sub Dial, although will agree the setting is lovely especially at sunset.

:oIs there new owners or a new chef Tinks.
-
There are definately some staff changes, not before time, not sure if that includes the owners or management.
-
Definatley the Sun Dial, steaks are to die for and the view over Fethiye at sunset is amazing.
-
many thanks, probably try them all :D
-
Certainly agree with Saraphane as a romantic setting the only problem we find is the lack of atmosphere.
-
Saraphane is really a winter venue, its a grand place but like you said lacks atmosphere in the summer months.
-
Lighthouse on Kizilda Island is super romantic - but not cheap !
Ian
(PS - I heard the Ligthouse on the prom is now just a bar - no food)
-
I know it is not in Calis but Kings Garden in Fethyie is excellent, great food and superb views and they will pick you up at no charge.

Ate there a couple of times over last two weeks, food excellent. Great views.
We were told there were new owners.

Guys, remember last year, there were all sorts of great recommendations, but as a first timer said, how about a location description so we know roughly where it is?? I am on my 3rd year, and, actually, I know a lot of places --but I dont know where the Sun Dial is :)
-
Loads of info for the Sundial already on the Forum if you use the search facility :)
-
However. It is in Tasyaka Fethiye. Look up the Sundial as Brian says. If there are a few of you he will pick you up from the law court in Calis. It is an amazing place. Get their about 3. stay all afternoon swimming and having the odd drink and watch the best view of the Sunset in the area. Take a change of clothes for evening(they have facilities for this). Then enjoy a romantic meal. Not the cheapest place in the area but for taxi service, all day sunning and swimming an absolute bargain. I have the phone number if you want to e.mail me. 8)

It is worth checking with the Sundial in advance if they have any weddings on or other events. We had an instance last year of getting there to be told that all the tables with views and sunbeds were reserved.
-
Where is the Sun Dial please?
-
Well after seeing so many replies about this, all from people who knew exactly where it is but for some reason wouldnt say so, here is a location map showing it exactly:D
http://maps.google.co.uk/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&hl=en&msa=0&msid=117997018230215662582.000438b4033f551057d3d&ll=36.617457,29.151256&spn=0.011901,0.018818&z=16
-
its not the easiest place to find but well worth it:D ;)
-
There are loads directions on the search facility on how to find the Sun Dial. There is the phone number. the address. There is the place that he will pick you up in Calis listed. i.e. the law courts. It is on the road to Ovacik. Hisaronu road. STOP at the traffic lights where you will see on your right hand side a trampoline place. Turn left immediately at the lights. Dont go back down the hill go up the dirt track. Follow the steep road to the top and prepare to be amazed by the views.
