This baby Flamingo found itself walking on Calis Beach today and was not in a happy state. The staff at Caretta caught it, washed it with cool water and fed it some small pieces of fish. The vet came and examined it, declared it fit but very tired. No idea how it found itself there but the vet took it to rest a while and was then going to release it again
-
I thınk you wıll fınd ıts a Rhea and belongs to my frıends neıghbours. It escaped when they moved vılla.Whıch vet has ıt please.
-
not sure of name of vet, you would have to go and ask for the manager, name Erol, he will have details, I don't know the difference between the birds and was told it was a flamingo

Many thanks

This beastie is without doubt, NOT a Rhea, the rhea, native to South America, is very similar in appearance to the Emu and the Ostrich. It is obvious from these pics that this bird has an elongated, flattened beak, and NOT the short beak of the rhea, and I personally, would venture as far as to say that it is not a flamingo either, but a Spoonbill. So there !! :D 8) Google it.
-
Definitely not a spoonbill, although the photo does make it look like one. I was on the beach with it today and would think it is definitely a flamingo.
-
it was a salmon pink colour under its wings which is why everyone thought flamingo
