Title: Serkul 2 review
Post by: Susiepink on September 13, 2015, 08:01:02 AM
Yuk, quite simply, yuk.
We fancied a Chinese last night and a friend had recommended Serkul but we weren't sure 1 or 2. Sure enough we picked the wrong one. It was dire, the spring roll filling was unlike anything I've ever tasted before, the sweet and sour chicken came in a dark orange gravy, and the beef in black bean sauce was a jet black treacly looking mess. Definitely one to avoid, and not cheap. Oh and my glass of Rose was a miniscule measure.

Which one is Rushie in?  We found that one marginally better but still not that good.  The other Serkul was indeed awful

Think Rushie is Serkul 1, or was when we were out in June.

As per usual. Serkul 1 started off really well. A lot of us locals used it in The Winter and it was always very busy... now it is nearly almost empty.. Serkul 2 is the one with Alex outside..

I had my worst food experience ever in Calis at Serkul 2. People who were there will remember I went a strange shade of green. That was the last time I went near the place. There are Chinese restaurants there now but back then there weren't - and George's did a mean version back then - haven't been to any of the "genuine" (  ;) ) Chinese restaurants in recent times.

That's a shame. I've been there a few times in recent years and had a good experience,  with a truely lovely lamb shank on one occasion.

I have told  this before, but the first and last time we went to the Serkul one.  It was lunchtime, the waiter served us and then sat  on the base of a parasol.  I look around to see him having a good pick of his nose.  So, Serkul 1 was right off our list.
Serkul 2.  Went there three years ago for my D.I.L's hen night, meals were  terrible none of us enjoyed them.
So would not go back there either.
We have noted whilst sitting in Georges (which has been full one the two occasions we have been in this time) that both the Serkul's have been very empty, even though most of the prom and main street restaurants have been really busy.  So busy, in fact, we are ringing up to book a table, never had to do that before.  We booked for Meeing Point last night it was packed and Ahmet was apologising to people and asking them to come back in 20 minutes. One couple actually stood at the door and waited.
