Title: Dinghy sailing at Calis
Post by: academylin on October 05, 2015, 13:44:41 PM: Hi there, on Friday when we were sailing out from fethyie i noticed a load of sailing dinghies apparantly off of Calis area..... Anybody know anything about the dinghy sailing club around there please?

I see in roads to making twelve year old son friends!!

Post by: IanK on October 05, 2015, 17:17:31 PM: Not there at the moment so cant comment on what was on the water at the weekend, but I don't ever recall seeing any dingies about at all in the last 6 years.

The Surf Club have a few Cat's (Hobies / Darts) for rental which are great fun, but they are mostly focussed in kite surfing and windsurfing to be honest.

Yes it was the annual regatta last Friday - Sunday

Post by: KKOB on October 05, 2015, 20:15:10 PM: I've just chatted online to Arda Celik from European Diving Centre and, as far as he knows, the only sailing club in Fethiye Bay is organised by the local council and is mainly for kids. It's based in the Karagozler boatyard area.

In Calis if you come across the water taxi bridge cross on the prom and then turn right with the sea on you left and ride up to Koca Calis. Also you can ride along the back of the prom passing the Delta Hotel and up the road keeping left and at the very end of the road turn left.
Here is an excellent Youtube video by one of our members Ian, who rode his bike from the end of Calis Prom right to the other end in the right direction for the Surf Cafe. It was taken in April, so it was a bit quiet.

It was shot a few years ago, but it goes from the centre of Calis almost all the way to the Surf Club - it's about 100m on the left at the end of the video
