About 4 years ago I was driving back from a night out in Fethiye I saw a strange dog-like creature in the cars headlights just opposite where Symbola is now. I knew it wasnt a dog because of the long ears and build and upon looking the next day on the internet identified it as a jackal. A turkish friend tells me that late at night when driving on the road to Dalaman you can see them on the hillside. I just wondered whether anyone else had seen any of these creatures? They seem pretty shy (like foxes).

The foxes come down from the mountains at night and scavenge around the villages and outskirts,
we have seen many of them unfirtunately some knocked over on the road.

I think I saw one of these a couple of years ago in Uzumlu. Thought it was a fox but, looking a the picture, more like a jackal. Love the wildlife here

I thought I saw one in Autumn, not that I knew it was a jackal, it just struck me as a weird fox.

I saw one last year in the forest above us, like you I just thought it was a funny breed of fox.
